I meant by, even if the jenkins created a folder `/var/lib/libvirt/images` in first place, it should have had the right permissions as how `temp` folder I created above has the same permissions as the install'ed libvirt folder now, I do not find a convincing reason why it did not work in the first place. [Bug 1628101] Re: qemu-kvm: virt-install VM fails due to inconsistent virsh capabilities output due to multiple qemu instance
Yes, your understanding is correct, the initial issue got rectified by removing cache and removing the local qemu instance compiled with qemu-2.7. Looks like the PATH precedence is local bydefault and it can be inconsistent, so different utilities takes inconsistent values in this case, like virt-install complains about unsupported cpu. Keeping the absolute binary path in kvm wrapper will make that it always points to the system installed binary and if user wants to use his binary anyways can change wrapper "or" use it standalone?, which other distributions also follow. In that way we would have inconsistent virsh capabilities output even the custom binaries installed in the system -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1628101 Title: qemu-kvm: virt-install VM fails due to inconsistent virsh capabilities output due to multiple qemu instance To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1628101/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

as suggested i tried echo autospawn = no ~/.pulse/client.conf killall pulseaudio LANG=C pulseaudio - --log-time=1 ~/pulseverbose.log 21 Do what you need to reproduce the bug.--- I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO HERE Switch back to the terminal and press Ctrl-C to stop PulseAudio. Open your Launchpad bug and attach the file ~/pulseverbose.log (in your home directory) to that message. To return your system to a clean state again, edit ~/.pulse/client.conf with your favorite editor and remove the line autospawn = no. If the file is now empty, you can just as well delete it. [Bug 489360] Re: System random freeze, using ubuntu karmic and jaunty on acer 5738G
The first thing is to look at the processes that are consuming more CPU / Memory resources during freezing. Whenever you feel that the system is getting hung / frozen, Can you please open the terminal and issue some performance gathering commands like top, vmstat etc...If you need,I can suggest the following commands, 1. top 2. vmstat 2 5 3. mpstat 2 5 mpstat -P ALL 2 5 (for individual CPU utilization statistics if you have multiple processors) 4. free 5. ps -e -o pcpu, vsz, user, pid, ppid, args|grep COMMAND|grep -v grep;ps -e -o pcpu, vsz, user, pid, ppid, args|sort -rn|head -10 (To get the Top-10 processes sorted by high CPU Utilization) 6. ps -e -o vsz, pcpu, user, pid, ppid, args|grep COMMAND|grep -v grep;ps -e -o vsz, pcpu, user, pid, ppid, args|sort -rn|head -10 (To get the Top-10 processes sorted by high Virtual Memory Utilization) If you can gather these outputs, you can figure out where the system is spending huge amount of resources...This will help finding the culprit :-) Note: If you don't have any of these utilities installed, you can always install them using sudo apt-get install sysstat. -- System random freeze, using ubuntu karmic and jaunty on acer 5738G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489360 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 489360] Re: System random freeze, using ubuntu karmic and jaunty on acer 5738G
I too had the same problem with Karmic Koala am having the same 5738 laptop. When I was using Ubuntu 9.04, I didn't have any issues was working pretty fine. However as soon as I upgraded distro to 9.10 (a big mistake that I still repent), my torrid time began! The kernel 2.6.30.x is really having issues with the video card 2.6.28.x was the one that I booted to successfully but with extreme slowness in video performance. Xorg, the X Window System, was found to be the culprit consumes more than 90% of CPU resources, quite unbelievably!!! And detecting sound cards is another headache with Karmic which I was tired of troubleshooting! Finally I got rid of Karmic installed Jaunty again but now with a change of theme great tweaks, in the form of great Linux Mint 7 which I'm thoroughly satisfied with now!!! Overall both video audio needs to be fine tuned in Karmic... Without that the most beautiful look alone isn't worth sticking to it -- System random freeze, using ubuntu karmic and jaunty on acer 5738G https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/489360 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
