Previously, I was using Windows XP boot menu to boot Ubuntu. Followed the instruction did restart one time. I'm sure the menu.lst is intact. I'm not sure what setting was wrong, but at first time boot up after upgrade, touchpad is not responding, and booting time is d**m slow. Now, I managed to reinstall from scratch. all work fine, and booting time is normal.
