As far as I remember I received this bug sometimes in Ubuntu 12.10 too.
I have a Lenovo T500 with F3507g WWAN-Module which stays always disabled
in network manager because i don't need it. I guess that it appeared

I get that freeze everytime while playing halflife for some minutes on
native steam client. It locks the xserver therefore I have to switch to
an other terminal (Strg+Alt+Fx) to reboot the system. In this case
AltGr+Print+K has no effect to kill the xserver.

Command 'amixer -c0 contents' shows on/off-states correctly for mic and
headphone but 'pacmd list-cards' says unknown in case of
analog-output-headphones.
However the microphone shows correct states for 'analog-input-microphone' and
therefore the volume application switches automatically

I think thinkpad_acpi module overrides/hides the settings of last bluetooth
power state (always on) since on my asus eeepc it works fine (turn off
bluetooth via applet - reboot - it stays turned off and vice versa it also
works fine).

In Maverick I installed linux-backports-modules-compat-wireless and downloaded
firmware files to /lib/firmware/brcm/* with symlinks.

earlier network-manager-icon in gnome-panel was scrambled and 'show desktop' -
icon not fully visible. after that i took a screenshot and network-manager-icon
repaired itself but not 'show desktop'-icon (see attachment).
If i execute 'killall gnome-panel' many times it randomly (nearly cyclical)

my solution: reinstall complete system and now it works fine. if you are
using developer ubuntu you should reinstall after final. windows
starting with minimal delay but I think thats normal.

I have same bug on my ibm t42 ati mobility 7500 32MB. Therefore i opened
#437117 bugreport, which is a duplicate of this bug.
It only appears with ati renderacceleration XAA not EXA. I use XAA because it
has more performance with karmic koala...
