[Bug 1894140] Re: grub-pc 2.04-1ubuntu29 fails to install on groovy 20.10 due to pkg deps conflict

2020-09-03 Thread Sean Feole
So after looking around a bit it would appear there is another version
of grub2 that has been uploaded to the builders. (Version
2.04-1ubuntu30)

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/2.04-1ubuntu30

Appears to have 2 fixes:

  * postinst.in: do not attempt to call grub-install upon fresh install of
grub-pc because it it a job of installers to do that after fresh
install.
  * grub-multi-install: fix non-interactive failures for grub-efi like it
was fixed in postinst for grub-pc.

Not sure if this problem would be addressed in here, however the amd64
deb has failed to build and I have notified the appropriate xnoxx

[Bug 1894140] [NEW] grub-pc 2.04-1ubuntu29 fails to install on groovy 20.10 due to pkg deps conflict

2020-09-03 Thread Sean Feole
Public bug reported:

When attempting to deploy Groovy AMD64 images via MAAS, the deployment is

[Bug 1890803] Re: Groovy amd64 / arm64 / PowerPC deployment seems not working

2020-08-19 Thread Sean Feole
Kernel SRU is mid cycle now, someone else will have to verify this is
fixed, unfortunately the kernel team is using most of the MAAS servers
that would probably be used for verification. So many teams may have to
wait as we can't afford to have any more delays.

[Bug 1890803] Re: Groovy amd64 / arm64 / PowerPC deployment seems not working

2020-08-17 Thread Sean Feole
I happened to check this updated -daily image again this morning which
includes, cloud-initramfs-tools 0.46ubuntu1 and still see that the
image remains broken.

I have attached the console logs from this latest deploy. Looks like we
made quite a bit of headway, still missing some bits that need to be
updated possibly for lack of /etc/fstab.

I have worked around the problem by creating a custom focal cloud image
and deploying it via maas using a bionic ephemeral. However, that is
simply a hack at this stage and not a valid fix.

[Bug 1781902] Re: memory hotplug test stuck on Azure BasicA1 node with X-HWE azure kernel

2020-07-24 Thread Sean Feole
We no longer test with the A1 Instances due to problems like this, A1 is
an extremely minimal, low resource instance. We should not be offlining
cpu and memory in these VMs.

[Bug 1844493] Re: ubuntu_sysdig_smoke_test failed on 5.3 / 5.4 kernels

This appears to just be a nuisance now, rather than a reliable test as
it is consistently failing in clouds. Will take some time to break this
down and figure out if we can fix the test.

[Bug 1865406] Re: Add support to test 5.0 Bionic kernel

Sam, linux-image-virtual-gkeop-5.0 has been testing in the GKE cloud on
baremetal and virtual instances. This package does not need to consume
resources in the metal labs. I would prefer it not be tested in any of
the MAAS clouds.

[Bug 1864140] Re: ubuntu_fan_smoke_test failed with unable to fetch file from http://ports.ubuntu.com on PowerPC

2020-04-16 Thread Sean Feole
Here is the problem.

Fanatic test-local-docker, creates a local docker container and imports
local DNS via systemd-resolv.conf , it tries to install "Ping" and
can't do that because of our firewall, well... the firewall in the lab.

It's blocking access to ports.ubuntu.com..

2 ways we can fix this..

Need to install docker manually, prior to running the teest and preseed docker
templates to add

Acquire::http::Proxy "http://:3128"; so that it imports to
/etc/apt/apt.conf

OR

we update the firewall rules to allow access to ports.ubuntu.com from
all machines in this lab.

Giving we don't own that network it may require some haggling. updating
our test may be the least invasive, but it's a pain in the rear.

[Bug 1840904] Re: ubuntu_fan_smoke_test failed with enable disable fan test on GKE 4.15 with g1-small and n1-highmem-16 / B-gcp-5.3

2020-04-15 Thread Sean Feole
looking at the test it appears that there are several factors hard coded
into it.

def determine_underlay(self):
underlay = 'bogus'
cmd = 'ip address'
output = utils.system_output(cmd, retain_output=False)
for line in output.split('\n'):
m = re.search('inet (\d+\.\d+)\.\d+\.\d+\/\d+ brd
\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+ scope', line)
if m:
underlay = '%s.0.0/16' % m.group(1)
break
return underlay

This may be the problem overall and possibly not the right way to approach
this, The underlay network should probably be the default routable network. Not
every network is a /16 , will take a look to see if I can refactor this a bit.

[Bug 1837040] Re: function traceon/off triggers in ftace from ubuntu_kernel_selftests failed on Disco ARM64 / B-hwe P9

2020-04-15 Thread Sean Feole
On Eoan, we no longer see the failure for traceon/off triggers ;
however,

[45] Register/unregister many kprobe events [FAIL]

Is failing, on arm64. Giving there are so many ftracetests open in the
project that are stale, i'm going to close this bug as its originally
intended to target against Disco, and re-open a new one for the new
failure on Eoan, if in fact is does not align with any of the already
existing bugs.

it would appear the copy process from -proposed to -updates was stalled.
Awaiting some requests to see if the package can be re-triggered for

[Bug 1845632] Re: After dist-upgrade, s390x running X-fips/B-fips kernel will boot into generic kernel

2020-04-02 Thread Sean Feole
Hey Sam,

As I mentioned in comment #4, this occurred due to the fact a newer
kernel (4.15~94.95), was installed as a result from the dist upgrade. It
would appear that you have enabled -proposed in /etc/apt/sources.list,
which is the reason why in your logs. the 4.15.0-94.95 kernel is trying
to install.

zipl.conf updated the configs to boot from the newly installed kernel.

As a result the linux-fips kernel takes a back seat and is moved up in
the boot order from kernel #0 -> kernel #1
