[Bug 357607] [NEW] adobe alpha presents a better 64-bit solution

2009-04-08 Thread Seth O'Bannion
Public bug reported:

Adobe released a native 64-bit flash player in November. although
marked as an Alpha, it's performance is better than the nspluginwrapper
solution. It also has the added advantage of requiring fewer
dependencies. Flash is a big part of normal internet usage, and x86_64
users need the best solution possible. If not used as the primary
solution, it should at least be a visible alternative so users can
handle it through the package manager the same way x86 users do. I
would suggest this for Jaunty since the 64-bit release was after
Intrepid.

The plugin can be found here:

** Affects: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 346095] Re: notify-osd doesn't honor my preference

2009-04-03 Thread Seth O'Bannion
I understand that this is something new. I don't expect a vast array of
options already, but the basics should be there. At this point, I would
think choosing a corner is satisfactory for most of us. Different
people prefer different workflows, and one of the best things about
Linux is that it lets you change things to better suit your needs.

I like many things about the new system, and I think it has potential to
make real improvements to Ubuntu and other distros if they choose to
adopt it, but it has to work WITH the user. I would rather not have to
choose between the functionality of these two options when the best of
both worlds could be made available.
