[Bug 1899288] Re: Python3 can't co-exist with Oracle's VirtualBox on 20.10

2021-01-11 Thread SimonFoley
Same issue: after upgrading from Ubuntu 20.04 to 20.10 my Virtualbox
installation was missing (removed as part of the upgrade). Attempts to
re-install indicated a conflict between the python pre-req and dh-
python. I performed the following and all appears to be working now:

sudo apt remove dh-python
sudo apt install ./virtualbox-6.1_6.1.16-140961~Ubuntu~eoan_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

[Bug 1795808] Re: Xorg freeze when using nvidia driver 390

2018-11-26 Thread SimonFoley
CTRL-ALT-F2 followed by CTRL-ALT-F1 bypassed the issue for me. However I
have now uncommented the WaylandEnable in gdm3 config, and that allows
the boot sequence to complete and display the login screen.

[Bug 219456] [NEW] Unable to use mouse during install of 8.04 Beta

2008-04-18 Thread SimonFoley
Public bug reported:

Installing Ubuntu 8.04 Beta to my Dell Optiplex GX260 the mouse is
unusable. Any attempt to move the cursor causes it to fly wildly across
the screen.

I completed the install using the keyboard only, then corrected the
entries that had not been set correctly during the install.

I also had a similar problem with 8.04 Alpha using the on board graphics

[Bug 219458] [NEW] Nvidia Geforce 6200LE not detected during 8.04 Beta Install

2008-04-18 Thread SimonFoley
Public bug reported:

After installing Ubuntu 8.04 beta I activated the restricted driver for
Nvidia, however it was unable to correctly configure the driver.

I performed a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg after rebooting to root.

This did not resolve the issue. I had previously used this process to
successfully configure the same hardware configuration under Edubuntu
7.10.

To resolve the problem I copied the definitions from the 7.10 xorg.conf
to 8.04.
