This happens to me also with the vnc protocol. When I connect using the Terminal Server Client the desktop hangs as soon as the client window appears. If I kill tsclient within a terminal (opening the terminal with a keyboard shortcut ), the desktop resumes and the vncviewer window works too. For example: - I open a new connection launching tsclient - I put the vnc client password.
