[Bug 1821765] Re: [snap] Missing icon in indicator

2022-01-10 Thread Stefan Leitner
Just asking if this is the problem I have:

I have Chromium as a favorite in my gnome panel on the left side. After
some time the indication of the running Chromium windows disappears
(like no Chromium is running at all - clicking the shortcut on the left
just opens a new window). When pressing ALT+TAB all other Chromium
windows are there. I have this behavior on multiple systems running
Ubuntu 21.10 amd64.

[Bug 1658921] Re: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection

2017-08-31 Thread Stefan Leitner
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1676547 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1676547

I upgraded from 16.04.3 (amd64) to 17.04 directly and stumbled on this
problem.

/usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf had the
wrong configuration:

[keyfile]
unmanaged-devices=*,except:type:wifi,except:type:wwan

setting unmanaged-devices=none in this file did the trick for me, but
this is a error which IMHO needs to be fixed - the system is a Laptop
with the normal Unity Desktop Environment.

[Bug 1509222] Re: package bcmwl-kernel-source 6.30.223.248+bdcom-0ubuntu7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script was killed by signal (Killed)

2015-11-05 Thread Stefan Leitner
I installed Ubuntu 15.10 (32bit) fresh and clean on my Dell D620. It
loaded the b43 module but no wireless was working, also nothing showed
up in the additional driver list to install afterwards.

So if you want it just working (without bcmwl-kernel-source for now) you
just have to:

sudo apt-get install firmware- b43-installer

After a reboot WLAN was working like it should!

@ber the frustrating bug you mentioned is fixed with a patch you
have to apply yourself. it happens with hybrid graphics and the
proprietary nvidia driver.

workaround is to use a usb mouse instead of the touchpad.

Nikhil Mahale (nmahale) created a working patch:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1220426/comments/171

So i have the same problem, i can't uninstall the proprietary nvidia driver
from GUI, so i had to follow guides like this:

[Bug 1390508] [NEW] Lightdm asks for wireless password for eduroam on each start

2014-11-07 Thread Stefan Leitner
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->

Happens on Ubuntu 14.04 amd64, Ubuntu 14.10 amd64
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or

uptodate 14.10 package
3) What you expected to happen
Save the password of the wireless eduroam (PEAP/MSCHAPv2 without CA
certificate) network when entered on lightdm
4) What happened instead

The problem I have is connected with my university's eduroam wireless
network. When I connect to it the first time I have to choose PEAP and
MSCHAPv2, when I want to save the connection it tells about the missing
CA certificate, so I tell it to ignore it. This works fine but when I
start up the system in lightdm I get asked to reinsert the password of
the eduroam connection, but even when I insert the password and click on
ignore the CA certificate message I have to do this procedure on each
restart of the system.

I'm not alone with this problem:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/516406/ubuntu-14-04-disable-automatic-
network-connection-until-after-login /
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-

this bugreport ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager-applet/+bug/1104476 ), when ignoring the CA certificate message
it will connect but not save the password at the login-screen.

So how do I get rid of this nagging request at each login?

[Bug 1033263] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 freezes with nvidia drivers

2012-08-30 Thread Stefan Leitner
i had the same freezing problems on Linux-x86... trying out now NVIDIA
accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates) (current version -
295.49).

hope it will minimize the freezes... changing to terminal is not working
(Ctrl+Alt+F1), just moving the mouse... connecting through ssh is still
working, showing Xorg process taking 100% CPU...

}

[Bug 851625] Re: snmp__if plugin does not work if server only supports 32 bit counters

2012-03-01 Thread Stefan Leitner
There is a second bug, if the snmp server doesn't support the alias name
entry (1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18.x) of the SNMPv2 , the function returns
"noSuchObject"

# from line 162
my $alias = $session->get_single($ifEntryAlias) ||
$session->get_single($ifEntryDescr) ||
"Interface $iface";

# a possible fix:
my $alias = $session->get_single($ifEntryAlias);
if ($alias eq 'noSuchObject'){
$alias = $session->get_single($ifEntryDescr) ||
"Interface $iface";
}

[Bug 436130] Re: OpenVZ kernel out of date, karmic requires 2.6.27

2010-03-26 Thread Stefan Leitner
this is a serious problem and very easy to reproduce:
on an openvz host try to install one of the ubuntu templates from here:
http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/template/precreated
i tried with ubuntu-9.10-x86.tar.gz and ubuntu-9.04-i386-minimal.tar.gz

when you change the /etc/apt/sources.list to the next distribution and
perform an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade the container will
hang on next reboot with this error:

# vzctl enter 1234
enter into VE 1234 failed
Unable to open pty: No such file or directory

the dist-upgrade to ubuntu 9.10 was working again after inserting the
script from Stéphane Graber, but not anymore with the dist-upgrade to
ubuntu 10.04.
