[Bug 1157862] Re: modem-manager crashed with SIGABRT in raise()

2013-08-04 Thread Stefano Prenna
I've removed the reference to the duplicate bug as it doesn't exist
anymore.

The issue is affecting my system as well.

I have an HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module (Sierra MC8775).
Since 13.04 the modem-manager cannot start anymore.

NetworkManager is 0.9.8.0 whilst modemmanager is 0.6.0.0

This is an extract from the syslog (basically the modem-manager starts and dies
in an infinite loop):

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure

2010-10-25 Thread Stefano Prenna
Using the new package I'm now able to use conduits I need. However I've
enabled all of them just for the sake of test and it seems that the
malconduit1 still have the famous: gpilotd-WARNING **: Unknown
conduit, name=malconduit1

If I remember well that is used for AvantGo sync...

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure

2010-10-13 Thread Stefano Prenna
Hello,

I was able to build the packages. Now the following conduits are not
working:

gpexpense1
malconduit1
gpmemo1
gpsendmail1
gptime1

For all of them the error is: (gpilotd:30597): gpilotd-WARNING **:
unable to g_module_open (/usr/lib/gnome-
pilot/conduits/libtime_conduit.so), reason libgpilotd.so.2: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

All the others are fine and I can sync my Centro (backup, calendar,
addresses...)

After my upgrade to 10.10 I have the Unknown Conduit in:

e_address_conduit

I'm attaching gpilotd's terminal output here.

Thanks,

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure

2010-08-14 Thread Stefano Prenna
1. I've created a brand new account and configured the USB connection
with my Palm and enabled just the backup conduit: still same issue.

2. I'm attaching the system trace of gpilotd to this comment. Hopefully
it will give you an idea on why is this happening...

Thank you

[Bug 569601] Re: unknown conduit in configure

2010-08-13 Thread Stefano Prenna
Ok, let's go one by one...

For me this is broken since some point on Karmic, but I can't remember
any other detail...

I currently have installed:

gnome-pilot: 2.0.17-0ubuntu5
gnome-pilot-conduits: 2.0.15-1.2
evolution-common: 2.28.3-0ubuntu10

I have currently the Backup conduit enabled (if I enable the others I
just receive more errors when launching the sync, and none of them
works).

I've already put the USB timeout to 0 a couple of months ago, but
nothing changed and yes, I've tried to launch gpilotd just before the
sync...

Here you have the terminal output of gpilotd when in Bluetooth:

[Bug 365779] Re: missing hcid.conf and pairing problem

2010-06-16 Thread Stefano Prenna
New information after my update to Lucid. It looks like that with Bluez
v4.x there is no way to share my internet connection with my phone. No
hcdi.conf, I can't see /etc/default/bluetooth, it seems that without the
Bluez 3.x package installed there is no way.

However I'm posting here the changes needed for my Lucid Lynx to share
my internet connection with my Palm Centro:

1. pair the phone and the pc using the standard bluetooth interface (on the
taskbar)
2. sudo apt-get install bluez-compat
3. gksudo gedit /etc/sysctl.conf
4. Uncomment the line net.ipv4.conf.default.forwarding=1
5. sudo sysctl -p
6. gksudo gedit /etc/ppp/peers/dun
7. paste inside the file (and adapt it to your network configuration):
115200

192.168.2.1:192.168.2.2

local

ms-dns 192.168.0.1

noauth

debug
8. sudo /usr/bin/dund --listen --persist --msdun call dun --nodetach
9. launch the connection from your phone, it worked for me.

[Bug 492347] Re: Slow file transfer in Karmic compared to Jaunty version

2010-05-15 Thread Stefano Prenna
Tested send-files and had the same (slow) results.

Tested on Karmic and Lucid.

Average speed (taken from the GUI) is around 21/22kb

Please let me know how can I help with the troubleshooting.

Thanks

[Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent

2009-09-13 Thread Stefano Prenna
I can confirm this bug in Jaunty. Downloading files on the desktop is
enough to recreate the issue.

[Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent

2009-09-13 Thread Stefano Prenna
Applying the instructions at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/187136/comments/5
that allow the usage of totem-xine for thumbnail instead of totem-
gstreamer actually works.

Obviously this doesn't solve the issue, but I think it's a good
workaround for those people that have this problem 2007 and never had a
solution...

My Jaunty with a Logitech USB Headset has the same issue. Any news about
this issue?

[Bug 365779] Re: missing hcid.conf and pairing problem

2009-06-06 Thread Stefano Prenna
Just discovered on http://www.adamish.com/blog/ that this is normal
behavior as the bluez package has been deeply updated. On the same page
I've found some good starts on how to reconfigure my system.

Basically I had to restore the original file bluetooth under
/etc/default/

After that I've deleted my phone, repaired it with my PC and launched the
command:
/usr/bin/dund --listen --persist --msdun call dun --nodetach

[Bug 310742] Re: cannot Unlock Users Settings

2009-04-12 Thread Stefano Prenna
What solved the issue for me has been:

1. Purge policykit (please note that this will remove ubuntu-desktop as well)
from Synaptics
2. As Ubuntu-desktop has been removed I had to manually reconnect to the LAN
(the network manager applet has been removed as well)
3. Reinstall ubuntu-desktop
4. Reboot the machine
