This behaviour is also discussed here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/modwsgi/yNdFjWrqgJw The missing patch comes from upstream and is documented here: https://code.google.com/p/modwsgi/source/detail?r=20979c8abd2f722d210d419b96c85e46a36e2d75 I applied the patch to the debian packages (which is the same as in saucy and debian) and now it doesn't segfault anymore. ** Affects: mod-wsgi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210787 Title: mod_wsgi is segfaulting (11) under Apache 2.4 in Daemon Mode after startup / after first request To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mod-wsgi/+bug/1210787/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1202654] [NEW] ipa client on ubuntu 13.04 doesn't work with ipa server on centos/rhel 6
Public bug reported: Hi, running on CentOS/RHEL 6 the stable FreeIPA Server version 3.0.0 Using an ipa client from 12.04 works as expected. Now I am testing enrolling of Raring and Saucy in FreeIPA and this fails. Client Version is 2.47 (from 3.1.2 pkg) and server version is 2.46 (from RHEL/CentOS 6 3.0.0 pkg) This is no good, because RHEL6/CentOS are the only enterprise distros out there, which do have a working freeipa server (I don't want to use Fedora in a large enterprise environment ;)) So, how can we address this, without using unsupported packages from elsewhere on CentOS/RHEL or backporting the old freeipa client from 12.04 ** Affects: freeipa (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1202654 Title: ipa client on ubuntu 13.04 doesn't work with ipa server on centos/rhel 6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/freeipa/+bug/1202654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1104954] [NEW] CVE-2012-5484: ipa-client security vunerability
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Needs to be fixed in Ubuntu. Sadly CVE Identifier is still not public. Anyways, fixes are already public: See RHEL Announcement. Security Advisory - RHSA-2013:0189-1 -- Summary: Important: ipa-client security update An updated ipa-client package that fixes one security issue is now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this update as having important security impact. A Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) base score, which gives a detailed severity rating, is available from the CVE link in the References section. Description: Red Hat Identity Management is a centralized authentication, identity management and authorization solution for both traditional and cloud-based enterprise environments. A weakness was found in the way IPA clients communicated with IPA servers when initially attempting to join IPA domains. As there was no secure way to provide the IPA server's Certificate Authority (CA) certificate to the client during a join, the IPA client enrollment process was susceptible to man-in-the-middle attacks. This flaw could allow an attacker to obtain access to the IPA server using the credentials provided by an IPA client, including administrative access to the entire domain if the join was performed using an administrator's credentials. (CVE-2012-5484) Note: This weakness was only exposed during the initial client join to the realm, because the IPA client did not yet have the CA certificate of the server. Once an IPA client has joined the realm and has obtained the CA certificate of the IPA server, all further communication is secure. If a client were using the OTP (one-time password) method to join to the realm, an attacker could only obtain unprivileged access to the server (enough to only join the realm). Red Hat would like to thank Petr Menšík for reporting this issue. When a fix for this flaw has been applied to the client but not yet the server, ipa-client-install, in unattended mode, will fail if you do not have the correct CA certificate locally, noting that you must use the --force option to insecurely obtain the certificate. In interactive mode, the certificate will try to be obtained securely from LDAP. If this fails, you will be prompted to insecurely download the certificate via HTTP. In the same situation when using OTP, LDAP will not be queried and you will be prompted to insecurely download the certificate via HTTP. Users of ipa-client are advised to upgrade to this updated package, which corrects this issue. [Bug 1052423] Re: Please sync with Debian
I would like to see that, but as long the Debian package doesn't ship the ZendX library addons, this won't happen. People already depending on this. You can, of course, depend on zendframework|zend-framework to make it work. More Informations about this: Sadly, when I was packaging zend-framework in the past, there was no work done inside Debian, but it was widely spread that Ubuntu has Zend Framework in the Repos (ref: http://andigutmans.blogspot.de/2008/02 /zend-framework-to-be-part-of-ubuntu.html) When I first encountered the debian package I requested a blacklisting for syncing this package from Debian. 1. the naming of the Debian package was wrong, libphp-zend-framework is more the usual naming convention. 2. Missing features. Furthermore, nobody was getting in touch with Ubuntu Universe Developers or directly with me, to make this happen in the past. SInce 2008 the package is available, while work on the Debian side was starting only in 2009. Frank can update his package easily and take over responsibility...I'm am not bound to it. Some conflicts and replaces headers in debian/control can help here. The general issue itself, can be easily resolved with zend framework 2.0 for debian and the next Ubuntu release in 13.04 Regards, \sh ** Changed in: zend-framework (Ubuntu) Status: New = Opinion ** Changed in: zend-framework (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: zend-framework (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Stephan Adig (sadig) ** Changed in: zend-framework (Ubuntu) Milestone: None = later -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1052423 Title: Please sync with Debian To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zend-framework/+bug/1052423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1052423] Re: Please sync with Debian
Raphael: Question 1: ZendX is distributed inside the source package from upstream. Those 'addons' are experimental or not ready for production. but people already using them to be up2date with all upcoming features. Question 2: I had the idea to package zend framework 2 as separate package, with a different name (libphp-zend-framework-2 or something like this) for ubuntu. But this would lead to the same mess as we have now. So, for the version 2.x we should merge our efforts (as said, I am happy to leave it to the Frank, because my time doing a lot of distro work is counted, because of more real life work stuff). Anyways what I don't know if ZF 2.x will replace ZF1.x completly or if ZF1.x will stay for a longer time to ease migrations of other reverse- depending packages. @Frank: Regarding the version 1 package, when Frank can adjust the package for 13.04 in debian, we can remove the blacklist entry and sync it from debian directly and getting rid of the ubuntu package. @All: TL;DR: I would leave it to Frank as Maintainer in Debian to decide. [Bug 1025765] Re: pam-auth-update call is missing from platform/debian.py
Well, I should be more precise... I tried to use the pam config without libpam_cracklib (you know removing the bits and pieces from the pam-auth-update config files, as described in the other bugreport). But it didn't work out. Couldn't login. Adding libpam-cracklib to the list of installed pam modules, and firing pam-auth-update to enable it, after that it worked. So, it's about libpam-cracklib, not being enabled upfront. [Bug 1025019] Re: dbus is not installed during freeipa-client installation on Ubuntu Server
Timo Stephen, yes, but not when you have Recommends turned off, which is quite usual on servers in datacenter environments. So, I have a debootstrap / minimal installation for our servers. Recommends are turned off for apt-get/aptitude. libdbus-1-3 gets installed, but only recommends the dbus package, which includes the dbus service for upstart, but freeipa-client/ipa-client- install has a call for service dbus start. dbus, will not be installed, when recommends are turned off, so all calls are failing and freeipa-client/ipa-client-install will just fail. Even certmonger needs the dbus service started, but when Recommends are turned off, even that will fail. So, eventually freeipa-client needs a direct binary dep for dbus (the package), or it needs to be changed from Recommends to Depends somewhere else. From a packagers perspective, I understand that the dbus package itself is not needed for libdbus-1-3 being installed. But for freeipa-client package it's a direct dependency, So, eventually we need to add this dep to sssd/certmonger or to freeipa-client ( i'm in favor of adding this dep to sssd certmonger) I know that this configuration (Recommends being turned off) is not the default config for Ubuntu and Debian, but from a sysadmin perspective, Recommends are pulling in a lot of not needed packages, (Just think of open-vm-tools, with Recommends turned on, it will pull in a lot of X packages, you actually don't need on a server VM) that's why they are most of the time turned off. Public bug reported: Dear Colleagues, the chkconfig call in add_debian.py.patch doesn't work on Ubuntu (didn't test it with Debian though), because /sbin/insserv doesn't exist. /usr/lin/insserv/insserv exists, but doesn't behave correctly. [Bug 881386] Re: Sync abiword 2.9.1-0.1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Hi Micah, yes, I did the merge of abiword 2.8.x today, and we have a lot of format-security errors. 2.9.x is fixing all those compiler bugs. [Bug 525154] Re: mountall for /var races with rpc.statd
@All: Did anyone tried to install now nfs-common (in lucid with the latest sru bugfix) in a chroot environment? If so, did nobody see nfs-common failing in nfs-common.postinst? Normally, in a chroot, starting services is disabled and/or not allowed (or in some cases the startup mechanism is somehow diverted to /bin/true or /bin/false whatever). But now, nfs-common.postinst does an invoke.rc statd and this failes in a chroot environment which means, that the package in question is not configured properly. The upstart dependency (started portmap ON_BOOT= or (local-filesystems and started portmap ON_BOOT=y)) doesn't apply inside a chroot. One thing that needs to be done is, to not start the services during installation (which means removing all blind magic of dh_installinit) or whatever it takes to come back with the old behaviour. [Bug 678425] Re: virtual network interfaces sometimes dont start on startup
@gollum53: you are using lucid or later and you should have the following exmaple as bonding config in your /etc/network/interfaces auto bond0 iface bond0 inet static address 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 bond-slaves none bond-mode 1 # active-passive bond-miimon 100 auto eth0 iface eth0 inet manual bond-primary bond0 bond-slaves eth0 eth1 auto eth1 iface eth1 inet manual bond-primary bond0 bond-slaves eth0 eth1 Why is that? Upstart brings most of the time first the bond0 interface up. But in most cases at this time, the hardware interfaces are not ready (udev didn't signal that to upstart) So, the bonding of the hardware interfaces to the bond interface needs to be done on hardware nic level.
