[Bug 1725649] Re: Fullscreen games lose "fullscreen" after an Alt+Tab

2017-11-07 Thread Steve Barcomb
Quick question. If we enable the proposed PPA, how do we go back to
getting stable updates? Just remove the PPA and keep apt updating like
normal?

[Bug 1728342] [NEW] Some applications disable "Night Light" and it is not reenabled upon exiting application

2017-10-28 Thread Steve Barcomb
Public bug reported:

Some applications disable "Night Light" and it is not reenabled upon
exiting application.

Examples:
Minecraft
Nvidia Settings
World of Warcraft via Wine.

You can go into settings and manually toggle "Night Light" off and back
on in order to get the blue light reduction to take effect again.

Not all application/games will cause this. Rocket League, Civilization
5 are examples that do not.

[Bug 1727160] [NEW] alt-tabbing out of a fullscreen game and back in causes the game to not come back fullscreen

2017-10-24 Thread Steve Barcomb
Public bug reported:

Launch any game full screen on steam (Civ5 is a good example) and alt-
tab. When you alt-tab back to the game it will not be full screen, but
windowed and slightly down and right from where it should be. Some
applications have alt-enter to switch from windowed to fullscreen and
toggling that will work (0 AD) is a good example. Most do not.

[Bug 1726627] [NEW] Pulse audio sink changes from HDMI when starting new Xsession for game

2017-10-23 Thread Steve Barcomb
Public bug reported:

I have speakers built into my monitor and if I am using 'alsa_output
.pci-_02_00.1.hdmi-stereo-extra1' as my default sink, audio plays
correctly.

I have set up a .desktop file to launch a game in a new xsession using the
following:
  /usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/wine /mnt/1tb/WoW/WoW.exe -- :3 vt8

If I run this script, pulseaudio changes the sink to 'alsa_output.pci-
_00_1b.0.iec958-stereo' automatically, so I get no audio from my
application via my monitor. If I hook a device to the s/pdif port I do
get the audio. I am a member of the 'audio' group and this worked
properly in 17.04 but has broken after a clean install of 17.10.

$ pacmd list-sinks | grep name:
name: <-what I
want to stay as default
name: <-what the sink
switches to when starting a second X session.

[Bug 1709163] Re: default output changes from intel builtin to hdmi when display is turned off. yes off not on

2017-10-23 Thread Steve Barcomb
I have a similar issue in 17.10. When I launch a new x session for a
game it will drop it to my s/pdif output. Setting the default sink in
/etc/pulse/default.pa and commenting out module-switch-on-connect has no
effect. This is horribly frustrating.
