Thanks for the links. I got things sorted and compiled the kernel
without issue. Everything is working as expected now. Thanks for the

I downgraded xfce-settings to the 4.11.0 package from Saucy, and locked
it at that version. It eliminated the issue, and everything appears to
function normally.
