2019-11-09 Thread Sundar
I can also confirm this bug. I have an UEFI system and latest Ubuntu
19.10 installed with updated packages. Grub2 shows these errors when
trying to list an ISO with ls command from Command line in the grub2
environment. It doesn't show any error if I list a pdf it any other
files. Problem seems to be in the iso9660 module.

dconf reset -f /org/gnome/control-center/

Hope it helps someone looking for the solution.

[Bug 1785778] Re: Hash Sum mismatch Ubuntu Server 18.04.1 LTS

2019-07-07 Thread Sundar Shrestha
@Julian Andres,
Sorry for trouble. But I'm still getting HASH MISMATCH with apt-get update.
I don't know why but I think apt is downloading wrong file or repository has
filename with wrong hash. I don't know if it's ISP traffic mangling.
I have downloaded file located in by-hash/sha256 and check hash online. The
hash of file is different.

Here are the screen shot.

Even by downloading the file and checking HASH and MD5sum. It's
different than it should be. Can you please tell me how to what to ask
for ISP if they are mangling the traffic.

HASH file downloaded and check for SHA256 checksum.

to come over here and posted. That's all. If you feel that I am trolling

The topic is not the relevant one here. But the issue is same. I am
unable to install, remove or upgrade the virtualbox-ext-pack. This also
affects the normal upgrade process if this package need to be upgraded
between other packages. This lead to partial install of newer Linux

[Bug 1767402] Re: [SRU] hash mismatch or wrong accept-license key trying to install virtualbox-ext-pack 5.2.10

2018-08-27 Thread Sundar
I have solved the issue manually. No help from update and upgrade. This
is how solved it:-

1. Download the official oracle ext package from here
https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.10/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.10
.vbox-extpack and choose to open with Virtual box.

2. After successful installation of above extension package, removed the
virtualbox-ext-pack package with "sudo apt remove virtualbox-ext-pack" command.
See the output here:-
$ sudo apt remove virtualbox-ext-pack
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  virtualbox-ext-pack
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
After this operation, 128 kB disk space will be freed.

2015-06-03 Thread Sundar Joshi
This is also happening to me, 14.04 with 3.13.0-53-generic kernel.

Output from $ pacmd list-sinks attached.

I can hear sound, and the left/right channels work correctly, but any sound
that comes through is crackling/robotic. I have the FiiO E17K connected via USB.

This new bug/feature was filed with patch to fix on 24/03/13. But the
status is still new and not even assigned? It is really disappointing
since it offer excellent feature required by many and it is not hard to
include/test.

[Bug 294980] [NEW] /etc/init.d/gdm check for 'text' in /proc/cmdline should not match within words

2008-11-06 Thread Sundar Nagarajan
Public bug reported:

Line 49 of /etc/init.d/gdm checks for 'text' in kernel command line, and if
present, does not start the Display Manager. However, the script does
  grep -qs text /proc/cmdline
which will match anything on the kernel command line that includes 'text'
(including a UUID, kernel image or initrd filename or any other kernel
parameter including the string 'text'. This is probably not what is expected.

I suggest replacing line 49 to read as follows instead:
if grep -qsw text /proc/cmdline; then
This will match 'text' only as a separate word, and is probably what was
intended.

[Bug 173768] Re: The module Monitor Display could not be loaded.

2008-10-04 Thread Sundar Nagarajan
I had this problem also (Hardy Heron kubuntu stable on AMD64). I was
just getting ready to give up, when I noticed the following error in the
displayconfig error trace:

raise ParseException,Unknown line type '%s' on line %i % (first,line)
xorgconfig.ParseException: Unknown line type 'allowmouseopenfail#' on line 55
error: *** runFunction failure
;

I found that I had a line in xorg.conf that read:
AllowMouseOpenFail

man xorg.conf says:
... Boolean options may optionally have a value specified. When no value
is specified, the option’s value is TRUE.

Looks like displayconfig does not obey this convention.

Once I explicitly specified a value for the boolean like so:

AllowMouseOpenFail true

displayconfig works fine.

Hope this helps in fixing the error / resolving the problem for others.

[Bug 173768] Re: The module Monitor Display could not be loaded.

2008-10-04 Thread Sundar Nagarajan
Small typo in my previous post. The correct syntax for
AllowMouseOpenFail (as in xorg.conf) should be:

Option AllowMouseOpenFail true

with that displayconfig works fine. Without the true specified
explicitly, the X server will work, but displayconfig crashes

[Bug 177853] Ubuntu Gutsy i386 server ISO cannot install kernel - critical error

2007-12-21 Thread Sundar Nagarajan
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

Download Ubuntu server Gutsy i386 CD ISO or Alternate i386 CD ISO from
mirrors.kernel.org
Validate download was ok using MD5SUMS
Check CD for defects (no defects found)
Install Ubuntu server
Towards the end - just before grub is installed, you get the error:
Could not locate a kernel to install in any of the configured apt sources

I tried this on the server i386 ISO as well as the ALTERNATE i386 ISO - in both
cases under VirtualBox running on Ubuntu Feisty (AMD64).
It happens consistently - tried at least twice on each distro.

On investigation of the CD, the pool/main/l/linux-meta/linux-image*.deb are
very small and do not seem to point at the right package names
pool/main/l/linux-source contains a linux-image deb, and I was able to install
it using the Rescue mode and dropping to a shell, doing a chroot
to /target etc.

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 117029] Re: Atheros 5005 permanently disappears all of a sudden

2007-05-31 Thread CS Shyam Sundar
Solved!

My friend has another model of Acer Laptop with Atheros 5005G WLAN a/b/g
Card.

It seems he used to have this often, and he suggested a *SIMPLE*
workaround for this.

Switch OFF and back ON the wireless button in the laptop and reboot.

It so appears, the wireless LED is will be burning always regardless of
the state of workability.

Note: I'm not switching off the Wireless button Off for this to happen!
It all happens randomly. ;-)

Thanks anyways!

By the way: the lspci /proc/version output is AFTER atheros
disappeared! and its a fresh install of 7.04
