I can also confirm this bug. I have an UEFI system and latest Ubuntu 19.10 installed with updated packages. Grub2 shows these errors when trying to list an ISO with ls command from Command line in the grub2 environment. It doesn't show any error if I list a pdf it any other files. @Julian Andres, Sorry for trouble. But I'm still getting HASH MISMATCH with apt-get update. I don't know why but I think apt is downloading wrong file or repository has filename with wrong hash. I don't know if it's ISP traffic mangling. I have downloaded file located in by-hash/sha256 and check hash online. The hash of file is different. Even by downloading the file and checking HASH and MD5sum. It's different than it should be. Can you please tell me how to what to ask for ISP if they are mangling the traffic. The topic is not the relevant one here. But the issue is same. I am unable to install, remove or upgrade the virtualbox-ext-pack. This also affects the normal upgrade process if this package need to be upgraded between other packages. This lead to partial install of newer Linux image and rendered the OS non bootable. I have solved the issue manually. No help from update and upgrade. This is how solved it:- 1. Download the official oracle ext package from here https://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/5.2.10/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.2.10 .vbox-extpack and choose to open with Virtual box. 2. After successful installation of above extension package, removed the virtualbox-ext-pack package with "sudo apt remove virtualbox-ext-pack" command. I found similar error in new installation also. I notice the mismatch error occurs when updating Kernel version 4.15.0-30-generic. This is also happening to me, 14.04 with 3.13.0-53-generic kernel. Output from $ pacmd list-sinks attached. I can hear sound, and the left/right channels work correctly, but any sound that comes through is crackling/robotic. I was just getting ready to give up, when I noticed the following error in the displayconfig error trace: raise ParseException,Unknown line type '%s' on line %i % (first,line) xorgconfig.ParseException: Unknown line type 'allowmouseopenfail#' on line 55 error: *** runFunction failure ; I found that I had a line in xorg.conf that read: AllowMouseOpenFail man xorg.conf says: ... Boolean options may optionally have a value specified. When no value is specified, the option’s value is TRUE. Looks like displayconfig does not obey this convention. Once I explicitly specified a value for the boolean like so: AllowMouseOpenFail true displayconfig works fine. Solved! My friend has another model of Acer Laptop with Atheros 5005G WLAN a/b/g Card. It seems he used to have this often, and he suggested a *SIMPLE* workaround for this. Switch OFF and back ON the wireless button in the laptop and reboot. It so appears, the wireless LED is will be burning always regardless of the state of workability. Note: I'm not switching off the Wireless button Off for this to happen! It all happens randomly. ;-) Thanks anyways!
