since I only use the plain client without manager, the following
procedure worked for me (probably very unprofessional, but I wanted the
work done!)
(prerequisite: BOINC was normally installed via apt-get/aptitude and is
working)
- stop boinc
- download the actual linux/x86 version
Hi William,
ClamAV is being worked on? The status was rejected the last time I
looked there. Would be great if you're right!
OK, I got the point.
Sadly I'm not very good in doing things by myself (aka compiling and
installing). Surprisingly I was successful in MLDonkey (I'm using the actual
By now I *really* wonder what this long term support means...
I decided to use dapper because it should last for the lifetime of the
server - five years seemed to be enough.
And what's up now?
- BOINC is outdated and it's just a matter of time until the projects will
require a newer version, so
what about dapper?
As far as I can see, even the original apt(itude)-source (5.4.9) at pkg-
boinc.alioth.debian.org is gone...? :(

Of course not, that's why this bug is still open...
May be LTS means Long Time Stay (with old software)?
It's a shame.

Public bug reported:
The actual version in dapper/universe is still 5.4.9 (edgy has at least
5.4.11?), but the recommended actual version is 5.8.11!
See here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php
As far as I can see, the newer cores add better support for CPUs and an
improved memory
Indeed, I'm using CLAMAV as an in-transit-mailscanner (AMAVISD) and also
for regular probing the user-home-directories.
This is getting more and more useless!
CLAMAV should get more importance as it seems to be the only antivirus-solution
to be installed automatically...?
May be it can get a
since the actual version of CLAMV is 0.88.5, I'd say it is not
completely solved. ;)
I'd prefer if at least the binaries would be available earlier...
I installed 0.88.4 on Oct. 12, (0.88.3 was completely skipped!) and just FOUR
days later (Oct. 16) this version was outdated again!
Not a good

may be someone can correct this in the package?
Thanks
