[Bug 1880609] Re: Evolution crashes when changing date in calendar

2020-05-25 Thread Taylor Raack
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1740681 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740681

The Apport retracing service claims that this is a duplicate of a bug
different bug, but the claimed duplicate bug is private and so I can't
see what that one is all about.

Is there a way that I can see contents of the private bug so I know if
this is indeed a duplicate, and if so, if the duplicate is being looked
at / confirmed / addressed?

I can also confirm that the network-manager package version
1.10.14-0ubuntu1 from bionic-proposed fixes the issue.

[Bug 1786840] [NEW] Does not open World Clock when "Add world clocks..." clicked in date and time menu

2018-08-13 Thread Taylor Raack
Public bug reported:

In 18.04, when the "Add world clocks..." is clicked in the date and time
menu, the Gnome Clocks program opens, but it opens the tab that was
previously open in the clocks program, which may or may not be the
"World" clock tab. For example, if the "Stopwatch" was used last, the
"Stopwatch" will open.

I wouldn't say this is a major bug, but is a usability issue. It is an
annoyance for me, and may be even more confusing for users who are new
to Ubuntu or Gnome Clocks, and don't know why a Stopwatch would open
when they wanted a World Clock. They may not be aware that they need to
explicitly click the "World" tab to get the world clocks *after* they
select the "Add world clock..." item in the menu bar.

If this is the not the right place to report usability issues, I'm happy
to close this out and report it in a more appropriate forum - please let
me know.

[Bug 1760621] Re: Tab freezes when I exit the shell

2018-08-02 Thread Taylor Raack
I second flan_suse's comment; having a backport of this bug to the
Ubuntu repositories seems like the right thing to do. I'd be happy to
get involved to help, but I've never contributed a Ubuntu patch before,
so I'd need quite a bit of handholding to move forward. Is there someone
on the Guake maintainer team who could give me some pointers?

[Bug 1748918] [NEW] Cannot extract data from CD

2018-02-12 Thread Taylor Raack
Public bug reported:

Simpleburn reports "Error: something went wrong." when attempting to
extract data from a CD.

When debugging using the command line, I found that when executing the
command "simpleburn.sh -cr /dev/sr0 extract /tmp/test.iso", the error
from the program is: "error: 'lame' is missing".

I believe that some dependency of the program is not installed when

[Bug 1741596] [NEW] Chrome fullscreen crashes Unity

2018-01-05 Thread Taylor Raack
Public bug reported:

The bug fix for unredirecting Chrome fullscreen mode in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1442728 is now out
of date, as the Google Chrome's window class has changed at some point
from "google-chrome" to "Google-chrome".

As a result, the fix in that bug no longer works in Xenial. I'm seeing
regular Unity hangs when un-fullscreening, as reported in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1442728/comments/13.

I'm constantly having to log into a tty and reset the window system to
recover from this.

It should be simple enough to change "google-chrome" to "Google-chrome"
in compiz composite settings to fix this.

[Bug 878385] Re: No icon appears in toolbar when launched

2015-11-09 Thread Taylor Raack
@sgclark, Trusty (14.04) isn't EOL until 2019. Would you please consider
patching this fix into the distribution for Trusty as well as Wily?

Thanks!

[Bug 841343] Re: Banshee hangs on startup

2013-06-16 Thread Taylor Raack
I don't have a 13.04 host to test on either - all of my hosts are on the
latest LTS release (12.04).

However, I can confirm that launching Banshee right now on my 12.04 host
works ok. The program doesn't seem to hang at all upon startup. I'd
suspect that the bug fix was backported to 12.04 as I would expect?

I found bug 845488 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/banshee/+bug/845488)

[Bug 841343] [NEW] Banshee hangs on startup

2011-09-04 Thread Taylor Raack
Public bug reported:

Banshee has worked for me for months (with hundreds of individual
startups and shutdowns) and for some reason last week it has begun to
hang during its startup sequence. The hang is completely reproducible; I
must kill the banshee process as it never starts up, and every time I
run banshee again, the hang happens again. I don't get any kind of
warnings or errors onscreen or in the debug log. However, the Banshee
Music Player window does appear, but it is empty - nothing ever appears
in it.

I expect that banshee will launch normally and allow normal user
interaction.

Here is the output from starting banshee from the command line with the
--debug flag set:

** Running Mono with --debug **

[Bug 841343] Re: Banshee hangs on startup

2011-09-04 Thread Taylor Raack
I tried two other things to get banshee to start up successfully, and neither
of them had any positive effect on this issue:
1) Completely removed my ~/.config/banshee-1 directory
2) purged my banshee install and reinstalled

I'm quite puzzled by this behavior. I'll be happy to try any suggestions
to fix this issue.

[Bug 177350] Re: pvresize can't shrink PVs

2010-08-17 Thread Taylor Raack
I'm reopening this, because I'm having the exact same problem as Paulo.
I'm trying with Lucid 2.6.32-24-generic and LVM2 2.02.54-1ubuntu4. Is
anyone willing to take a quick look at this and determine if it's
something which can be fixed?

[Bug 177350] Re: pvresize can't shrink PVs

2010-08-17 Thread Taylor Raack
Soren, I just tried this out and sadly am having no luck. I run 'pvmove
-v /dev/sdf1' (sdf1 is my pv) and the result I get is:

Finding volume group mermaid
  No extents available for allocation

But clearly I have extents on the pv, as reported by pvdisplay:
--- Physical volume ---
  PV Name /dev/sdf1
  VG Name mermaid
PV Size 931.51 GiB / not usable 3.19 MiB
  Allocatable yes
  PE Size 4.00 MiB
  Total PE 238466
  Free PE 97497
  Allocated PE 140969
  PV UUID wGWKzs-Z1XJ-DFrd-jalf-0HOE-UM1x-V1GNZt

So, that doesn't seem to work. Does anything else come to mind?

[Bug 177350] Re: pvresize can't shrink PVs

2010-08-17 Thread Taylor Raack
I should have also mentioned that my vg only has one pv in it. Perhaps
this is compounding the problem - there is no other pv in the group to
which I can move extents. But really all I want to do is coalesce the
extents on the existing pv so that I can physically shrink it.
