[Bug 284730] Re: Printing from KDE4 apps cuts off, non-KDE apps print fine

2010-08-31 Thread Thomas Ohms
I also can confirm this bug. Only that I have a bit different configuration,
but issue's same:
I have a PDF Printer running and modified its corresponding ppd file for
default margins in ImageableArea.
If printing from let's say kate directly margins are ignored. But if I go into
properties dialog before printing I can see my margins set. I than don't change
anything and just click "OK". Now margins are set correctly.
Seems KDE apps ignoring margins by default or printer dialog starts with a
default margin of 0?!

I used packagekit-gnome. You're right pkcon doesn't work either on my

[Bug 377535] Re: [Jaunty] kpackagekit doesn't show up changelogs

2009-05-19 Thread Thomas Ohms
It really seems to be a bug in kpackagekit and not packagekit, because in Gnome
changelogs are shown.
Bug seems to start in Updater/KpkUpdateDetails.cpp Line 117.
info.changelog.isEmpty seems to return false, because word "Changes" is
displayed. But then info.changelog.* only contains "The list of changes is not
available", coming from "PackageKit::Client::UpdateInfo". But as said it works
in Gnome and both - KDE and Gnome - have the same libs from packagekit. So I
don't really know why there is no information in kpackagekit available.
Package maintainers any idea?

Versions:
kpackagekit: 0.4-0ubuntu8.1
packagekit: 0.3.14-0ubuntu5

[Bug 377535] [NEW] [Jaunty] kpackagekit doesn't show up changelogs

Public bug reported:

2009-05-09 Thread Thomas Ohms
For all others not willing to wait: download from my PPA. Just put
following into you apt sources file:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tohms/bugfixes/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/tohms/bugfixes/ubuntu jaunty main

Update cache and than splashy. Be aware that version in PPA for
compatibility reasons with later jaunty-proposed is: splashy -
0.3.13-3ubuntu1~ppa1

[Bug 369670] Re: [Jaunty] Security update apport crashes during installation

2009-05-07 Thread Thomas Ohms
Now I had a bit time to observe this bug deeper. Mentioned error is because
apport isn't running. Well, no problem so far as I tried to start apport. But
nothing - no message, no apport. Had a look into init script file - ok: there's
a file under default which is originally set to disable apport (first matter!
think of common users!). Right - I enabled to start apport, but got only the
following error during start-up process:
 * Starting automatic crash report generation: apport

/etc/init.d/apport: 24: runlevel: not found
exit: 24: Illegal number: Starting

What is that illegal number about to do?? What does it tell me? Where is
it coming from?

Ok - if nothing helps one step usually always helps out: remove with apt-get
and purge everything, than reinstall. But surprise:

Damn - I was so close. Ok, dpkg wants me to reinstall and so I tried

There's no way in and no way out and I don't have a clue about this "runlevel:

So what to do here?

[Bug 348332] Re: [RV250][JAUNTY] X Freezes with Radeon driver EXA/XAA Composite

2009-05-03 Thread Thomas Ohms
It's possible I have the same problem on my Asus F5V with X2300 installed.
According to
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-radeonhd/plain/README my
card is still supported, but with fglrx I cannot even get my X-Server up and
running. As soon as KDM is starting it freezes X with the error "/usr/bin/X:
symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so: undefined
symbol: atiddxAbiDixLookupPrivate."
If I use radeon drivers, system works, but I have always display errors like
flickering in control panel or scrambled play bar in Dragon Player's fullscreen
mode. With radeonhd those errors are gone, but movies are not fluently played
back anymore.
Guys let me know I have wrong end of the stick here, but is it possible, that
my problem is same than yours?

[Bug 313027] Re: MASTER: fglrx does not support xserver 1.6

2009-04-28 Thread Thomas Ohms
Sorry for reopening this bug again guys, but still seems to disharm in
Jaunty.

I have the following card:
ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon X2300

Tried your suggestions with aticonfig --initial:
"aticonfig: No supported adapters detected"

In Xorg.0.log everything seems fine, but in kdm.log:
"/usr/bin/X: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so:
undefined symbol: atiddxAbiDixLookupPrivate"

Is it still a bug in xorg-driver-fglrx or in libgl1-mesa-dri??

System starts up fine, but when reaching KDM start display just shows
some weird colours and no matter what keys I press, nothing is
recognized. Only key that works is off button so at least I can do a
clean shutdown.

[Bug 276445] Re: Madwifi (atheros) driver malfunction induces a system freeze

2009-01-05 Thread Thomas Ohms
I have also good news: My system is up and running now for 8 days with a total
load of 4,0GB(Down) and 2,1GB(Up).
Solution by now was changing the driver to ath5k (for Atheros 9xxx use ath9k).
Be aware that it gives a new problem (see #291760), but it doesn't affect my
system much and everything is running stable.

So here's it all together:
Channel: 1
Mode: 54g
Driver: ath5k

I haven't tried yet if it's still stable when using a higher channel,
but maybe someone else likes to test it!?

I dont't think that it is helpful because we both have already a
completely different kind of chipset. Also the bug was already found,
but this guy doesn't find an easy way of backporting. Maybe we better
should try an older version of madwifi and if that's working fine asking
the packager of ubuntu to redistribute the old one instead until a new
version is coming out. Would be nice if a Ubunter could give us a sign
of existence here! ;)

As already said it isn't necessary to know the chipset. If you have this
bug, try changing your wifi channel to "1" and let us know the result.

Ok, but give the channel workaround a try. My wifi is still working as I
can reach my PC.

2008-12-03 Thread Thomas Ohms
Wait folks. I had a look on madwifis ticket system and found this:
http://madwifi-project.org/ticket/1903
It seems to be the same problem and they're already on it. I asked the assigned
guy if there is any update, but for now it seems using channel 1 should be a
workaround. I'll give it a try and get back to you with the results.

2008-12-03 Thread Thomas Ohms
Well, I don't think it's the be motherboard, but it needs to be something
specific. Else we would have even more people complaining about this. Let's
see: could everybody who has reported this bug please tell us what chipset they
have!?
Here's my data:

Chipset: SiS 1039
Atheros: AR242x

That was a good idea, but seems to be only a coincidence. As you can see
in attached file I only have wifi on the corresponding interrupt.

[Bug 281591] Re: courier-mta-ssl cannot reallocate

2008-10-10 Thread Thomas Ohms
Ok I had a deeper look in /usr/sbin/esmtpd and found there is a request for
ulimit. So I looked into /etc/courier/esmtpd and the variable "ULIMIT" was set
to 4096. I changed this to the same value as in imapd: 65536
But this is only a workaround. I would like to know how this could/can happen,
althoug nothing was changed or updated regarding this package.

[Bug 281591] [NEW] courier-mta-ssl cannot reallocate

2008-10-10 Thread Thomas Ohms
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: courier-mta-ssl

Description:
Without any minor or major changes to courier-mta-ssl I can neither restart nor
install it. When trying to start or after installation to configure it fails
with "/usr/sbin/esmtpd-ssl: xrealloc: ../bash/subst.c:514: cannot reallocate
1024 bytes (0 bytes allocated)" and with "/usr/sbin/esmtpd-ssl: xrealloc:
../bash/print_cmd.c:1273: cannot reallocate 512 bytes (0 bytes allocated)".
Strange thing is, this happens only to exactly this package. All other Courier
packages are stopping and starting fine.

Versions:
Ubuntu: Hardy 8.04
courier-mta-ssl: 0.58.0.20080127-1ubuntu1
libc6: 2.7-10ubuntu4

To be honest I don't know where to start here. There is enough memory
and all other things are working fine.
