After a restart, the keyboard backlight is now controllable via Fn+F10. I've removed the NVIDIA drivers and configured Ubuntu to use Nouveau. sudo apt-get remove --purge '^nvidia-.*' sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop echo 'nouveau' | sudo tee -a /etc/modules This hasn't fixed the situation. Hi spad - Basically what was happening is that I opened Firefox as root rather than a regular user. I must have closed down the PC without closing Firefox. Upon reboot, normal users could not open Firefox. Technically, it's not a bug. It's just been listed as user error - which makes me feel great considering the hours of frustration I had experienced because of this issue.
