[Bug 197581] Re: update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in module() : RuntimeError: could not open display. It should display a warning when $DISPLAY is not set.

2011-04-25 Thread Tim Smith
found solution, do not put the code below

: Sudo update-manager -d

just open a console session using terminal and with out getting root,
just type update-manager -d (without the speachmarks).

Worked first time this way.

I would like to point out that when I got this bug I was on Ubuntu 10.10
upgrading to 11.04. Ever since upgrading to 11.04 I have not been able
to reproduce the bug.

[Bug 436958] Re: system fails to restart, hangs with on screen restarting system

2009-09-30 Thread Tim Smith
Hi,

Sorry to trouble you but pleaase could you provide a little more info
about this.

Is this every time you reboot? Or just sometimes? [we need to knwo if
this is consistant or if there is another factor that causes it.

Have you tried rebooting from a live CD to see if the same thing occurs?
[if this works it indicats that this would be a config on you
instalation of Ubuntu, where as if this fails then we will see that this
is possibly hardware realated]

[Bug 123706] Re: Myspace VIdeo Doesn't Play

2007-07-12 Thread Tim Smith
Hi Everyone, yep me too.

I am running Kubuntu Fiesty, and have adobe flash player working, I can
watch google vids and Youtube and Peekvid and whole host of other
things.But myspace doesn't always work.

i suspect it is a failing on their part (myspace) not on the part of
the flash software or the brouser or even the opperationg system, also a
lot of the videos that are broken are the ones that really should not
be there. For example the Transformers film, it is not out yet! and some
episodes of sar trek etc..

it may just be me but I can veiw the ones that are obviously made by the
person who uploaded it but cannot see the ones that I shouldn't be able
to. If I am wrong please post. Also could. anyone try on windows or
apple?

this is video I can see (home made)
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individualVideoID=10850897

this is video I cannot (copywrited)
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individualvideoID=1234002814

If I am correct Myspace just is not telling you that this video is not
avail any more.

the address of the site is
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.splash

After further investigation, if you go to the page that shows the video
then click on the link to get flash player and let adobe come up then
click back it works ???
