[Bug 741202] Re: notification not blurred when mouse already in top right corner

2011-03-28 Thread TobiasDomhan
sorry didn't know that. just read the design docs for the first time :/
so can it be regarded as a bug that this behaviour was not reproducible by
Fabio Marconi?

by the way: what is the reason behind this design decision?
I was annoyed by this behaviour quite a few times so far. I triggered a
notification and wanted to changed to another tab in chromium afterwards.
however the tabs of interest were hidden behind the notification.

[Bug 741202] [NEW] notification not blurred when mouse already in top right corner

2011-03-23 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

the notifications will be blurred as soon as the mouse hovers them. which is a
good thing, because you probably want to see the stuff under the mouse.
however if the mouse is already in the top right corner at the moment the
notification gets displayed the notification will not blurr.

reproduce:
 1. move the mouse to the top right corner
 2. produce some notification (e.g. change volume)
expected behaviour:
 * a blurred notification

I'm using a fully updated ubuntu 10.10 machine.

[Bug 664533] Re: Installer stuck on keyboard layout selection

2011-03-22 Thread TobiasDomhan
some here. wanted to select a german keyboard layout. therefore typed in ger.
afterwards on the left side there will be germany selected whereas on the
right side there georgia selected. after this I'm stuck. I can neither go
forward nor backward. and selecting another language doesn't change the right
side at all. It will always show the georgian keyboard layouts.
I downloaded the newest version of the ubuntu 10.10 installer.

I now get further, than this error. I don't now if this is because of an
update oder because I reinstalled the kernel package.

Now I see the white ubuntu logo on a blackscreen, some time after that a

[Bug 465066] [NEW] [Acer, inc. Aspire 5920G] suspend/resume failure (regression) [non-free: nvidia]

2009-10-30 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

I'm using a freshly upgraded Ubuntu 9.10:
Linux tobi-laptop 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009
x86_64 GNU/Linux

Suspending worked like a charm in 9.04. Though it doesn't with karmic.
Sometimes it will work, sometimes it will fail.

The problem occurs during suspending, not during the wakeup. Ubuntu will
hang just before it would usually power off the system. but instead of
powering off it will leave me with an empty text console, with just a
blinking cursor.

ProblemType: KernelOops
Annotation: This occured during a previous suspend and prevented it from
resuming properly.

[Bug 318488] Re: gpsbabel new upstream version 1.3.6

2009-01-24 Thread TobiasDomhan
ok turns out that the previous package was synced from debian.
please sync the new version in the debian versions to jaunty.

sourcepackage name: gpsbabel
current jaunty version: 1.3.5-1.1
current debian unstable version: 1.3.6-3

I attached the changes between version 1.3.6 and 1.3.5, which can be found on
the homepage.
including many new features and some bug fixes.

here the changelogs (since the current jaunty version:)
gpsbabel (1.3.6-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/patches:
- Adding 'osm-char-int-cast-bug-fix' patch to remove an unneeded
cast from int to char and back to int which resulted in a broken
  osm module on some architectures.

 -- Bernd Zeimetz b...@debian.org Wed, 07 Jan 2009 16:12:17 +0100

gpsbabel (1.3.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/rules:
- Enable 'make doc' again, it was accidentally left disabled.

 -- Bernd Zeimetz b...@debian.org Wed, 07 Jan 2009 00:05:46 +0100

gpsbabel (1.3.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Imported Upstream version 1.3.6
  * Dropping Debian specific patches which were applied to the source
directly. They should not be needed anymore.
  * debian/rules:
 - Cleaning up unused lines.
 - Don't ignore make check failures.
  * debian/control:
 - Setting myself as maintainer in agreement with John Goerzen.
Thanks to John for maintaining the package until now!
 - Updating Vcs fields to reflect the new location of the git

[Bug 296527] [NEW] ctrl-alt-backspace should be disable by default

2008-11-10 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

the option to use ctrl-alt-backspace to restart the whole x-server thing should
be disable by default. There souldn't be a key that allows you to kill the
whole x-server without asking for permission, or asking the user to confirm his
action.
This thing isn't really useful, it's even not necessary as it can be done by a
pkill X any time.
or consider accidentally hiting those keys, then all you unsaved work is gone.
or if someone who wants to be mean to you hits those keys etc...
imho this should be disabled by default, anyone who really wants it can enable
it at any time.

what dialog do you mean? the error message?
on the console this dialog doesn't appear, it just does nothing after starting
it. The error dialog is only displayed when trying to add the applet to the
panel.

If the process isn't exiting under the console, it's not crashing.
yeah it doesn't really crash as it seams to be not even started.

[Bug 282741] [NEW] fast-user-switch-applet crashing right after adding it

2008-10-13 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

if I want to add the fast-user-switch-applet to the panel I immediately get the

therefore I can't even add it. I reinstalled it though this doesn't make a

When I click on the gnome-mixer(on the second screen), the opening bar,
that allows to adjust the sound level, is shown beneath the gnome panel

the menu items Preferences and about open windows on the wrong

[Bug 278261] Re: two xscreens - gnome panel crashes

2008-10-07 Thread TobiasDomhan
the problem is that crashes is the wrong word, it just doesn't respond anymore.
a error window is shown, though this is not being filled with any
information(so a empty window with error as the title)
/var/crash is therefore empty.
though this bug seems to not be there on every bootup. I can't see a pattern
until now on when it's there and when not. I am sorry I can't tell more, I will
add something/open a new bug as I find out something new.

[Bug 278967] [NEW] ubuntu not booting sometimes, kernel failures

2008-10-06 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image

_sometimes_ when I try to boot I get right after grub some kernel failure
messages for a short time, after that the screen turns black. whilst this my
machine is beeping enormously loud. today I was able to photograph the failure.
I am running the Intrepid Beta with the newest kernel(2.6.27.4.4).
weirdly this happens not all the time but only once in a while.

[Bug 278667] [NEW] pidgin user switcher 2. gnome panel no icon

2008-10-05 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Ubuntu:Intrepid
Kernel:2.6.27-4-generic
pidgin:2.5.1
gnome:2.24

under intrepid when pidgin is running it displays the status under the user
switcher(in the gnome-panel). I have here 2 monitors that run on different
xscreens, therefore I have to different gnome-panels, on the first the
corresponding icon is shown correctly, on the second though there is only one
icon for all statuses that's different than the on on the first screen, have a
look at the screenshots below.

what should happen if I change my status via the user switcher? should the
status in pidgin be changed, too?
because when I try to change the status via the user switcher nothing happens.

[Bug 278261] [NEW] two xscreens - gnome panel crashes

2008-10-04 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

kernel: 2.6.27-4-generic
Ubuntu: Intrepid(8.10)
Gnome: 2.24.0
nvidia-drivers: 173
gnome-panel: 1:2.24.0-0ubuntu1

I use the proprietary nvidia driver for my 8600M GT.
I got here 2 Monitors, which run on separate x screens, configured via the
nvidia-settings tool.
If I click a application launcher on the panel of my second screen the
gnome-panel crashes(on both screens).
The panel doesn't do anything from then on, clicking on it anywhere results in
nothing, all other dekstop applications stay alive though.
this happens with and without compiz.

after this bug occurs I got another gnome-panel process
the 3 CPU consuming processes were active even though the bug described wasn't

A killall gnome-panel results in a normal gnome-panel process that
uses nearly no CPU, and the bug described above is not there anymore.

[Bug 270624] [NEW] zoom level chooser being displayed ugly

2008-09-15 Thread TobiasDomhan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Versions
hardy 8.04
Gnome 2.22.3
Evince Document Viewer 2.22.2 (2.22.2-0ubuntu1)

when opening the chooser of the zoom level it seems like the current selected
item shall be display vertically in the middle of the space, that this gui
element has. This results in ugly white space on the bottom, and the top
elements will not be displayed, you have to scroll to see them. once you
scrolled this is no problem anymore, then all elements are being displayed.
This happens only if evince is limited in space to the top. If I do the same in
the middle of the screen the desired behavior is shown.
you probably didn't understand me, it's really hard to describe, therefore I
made some screenshots.
don't know if this is a problem of evince, or this gui element and therefor
gtk/gnome or something.

[Bug 93847] Re: Excessive CPU usage by Gnome System Monitor

2008-07-01 Thread TobiasDomhan
got a really high CPU usage here too
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz

a Graph for CPU usage should be as seamless as possible. I'm using an Interval
of 1 second.
Futhermore I have the gnome panel applet monitor enabled, too, which acts like
a CPU mon should, it nearly doesn't use an CPU %.
plus: it shows the CPU grpah before and after opening the System Monitor which
shows that the System Monitor produces the most CPU usage of all programs.
don't know if this is a bug, or the program just fails.

resizing the window doesn't affect the usage here.
