[Bug 293442] Re: nicotine crashes when you perform a search

2010-04-25 Thread Toltech
Above report confirmed + error msg, also the below error seen just
before the crash (in an infinite loop)

pynicotine.slskmessages.FileSearchResult unpack requires a string
  argument of length 4

This is a known error:

Upgrading to version /nicotine+-1.2.15.tar.gz from the nicotine-plus
site, solves the problem

[Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-17 Thread Toltech
I now reinstalled the open source nv driver and went to my black
rectangle test site and things appear to be working now. Also the
screen saver is working again. I will keep my system on the open source
nv driver and test if the black rectangles reappear. The proprietary
driver seemed to be working fine.

2008-04-16 Thread Toltech
We have switched a system over from the nv to the proprietary nvidia
driver. Problems seems to have been solved. Another issue with the
desktop is that the screensavers were not working. In the preview they
were black and the open source nv driver. Now everything is working and
visible again.

Later today we will switch back again and see how the state of the
system for the open source nv driver is now

[Bug 216683] [NEW] Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-13 Thread Toltech
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

This is a duplicate of Bug #182038,
We are testing hardy intensively and have decided that FF3 is not up to par.
Sites which are working in FF2 are not working properly (the website of one of
the biggest banks of the Netherlands sometimes does and sometimes does not show
the full menu - it works in FF2), also lots of pictures appear black.

We have to make the decision to install Hardy on about 100 workstations
and we can not explain to users why pictures appear black in the
browser. A lot of people are using the above mentioned website, and some
people can not see their own pictures on their own blog (which they
could see before in FF2).

This is a serious regression and we are not going to burden our users
with a browser that is not fully functional.

So we would like to see this bug (which is not a bug report) as a
discussion to put all duplicates of this but in the right section: a
blocker. This is an attempt to explain how serious this bug is and how
it can damage the rock solid image of Ubuntu

[Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-10 Thread Toltech
What I don't understand is that the priority of this bug is only
Unkown/Medium/Undecided.

It looks like a lot of folks have problems with firefox 3. For example I
know an organisation now running gutsy which has a blog where a number
of pictures turn black on Hardy FF3. I would not think of switching them
to Hardy. The problem is that it is very hard to reproduce. So for me it
is a critical bug.

[Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-07 Thread Toltech
I see the black images also in various sites, if I copy the url of the
image to its own tab and press shift reload button continuously, the
the previous black image is shown, but sometimes firefox prints out:
image . can not be displayed because it contains errors maybee
this helps

I also don't think that changing the xorg.conf configuration file is a
good solution. We deploy ubuntu on 100 of stations and can not check
every one of them. For the average user it is a bummer to have a firefox
which does not display all images which used to be properly displayed
for many years. I find this bug, though not critical, very disturbing
from a user perspective.

[Bug 189506] Re: Normal user can't access USB camera Error (-53: 'Could not claim the USB device')

2008-03-24 Thread Toltech
Thanks, this worked for the udev part, however I don't get a message on
dbus. If the real implementation is not through udev, it might not be
worthwhile pursuing this path.

What needs to be done to make these camera's work with the new hardy-
hardware-detection specs before release of hardy? (I am only beta
testing)

Though not critical, users will expect their camera's to work,
especially when they used to work with dapper/feisty/gutsy.

[Bug 205992] Re: hardy cacert RA niet seen by firefox -3

2008-03-24 Thread Toltech
Hello,
I am expecting ca-certificates to install root certificates system wide (also
for firefox, thunderbird e.a.). This would be a great mechanism to deploy these
certificates across a big number of systems. We for example would be using
cacert to protect all kinds of servers (including web services).

The firefox root certificates are viewable under:
Edit-Preferences-Advanced-Encryption-View Certificated-Authorities

If the package ca-certificates is not meant for this purpose or not meant to
support firefox (3), this is no bug and it can be removed.
Regards,
Robert

[Bug 189506] Re: Normal user can't access USB camera Error (-53: 'Could not claim the USB device')

2008-03-23 Thread Toltech
I can confirm this bug with my Canon DIGITAL IXUS 800 IS (always used to
work).
As root everything works, as a normal user not. I get following messages:

An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not claim the USB device'): Could
not claim interface 0 (Operation not permitted). Make sure no other program or
kernel module (such as sdc2xx, stv680, spca50x) is using the device and you
have read/write access to the device.
*** Error (-53: 'Could not claim the USB device') ***

Strace points to a permission error:
open(/dev/bus/usb/005/005, O_RDWR)= -1 EACCES (Permission denied)
open(/dev/bus/usb/005/005, O_RDONLY) = 4
ioctl(4, USBDEVFS_GETDRIVER, 0xbfd653b4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not permitted)
ioctl(4, USBDEVFS_CLAIMINTERFACE, 0xbfd654d4) = -1 EPERM (Operation not
permitted)

Manually changing the group permissions recursively for /dev/bus/usb/005
to plugdev solves the problem.

It looks like udev is not working properly. I also noticed
/etc/udev/rules.d/45-libgphoto2.rules is not installed, I copied this
file from feisty to no avail. I am not very good with udev, If somebody
could point me out what to do, this bug can be solved.

[Bug 105790] xserver-xorg configuration with standard installer defaults to the vesa driver

2007-04-12 Thread Toltech
Public bug reported:

feisty:
When using the standard installer (netboot) the configuration of xserver-xorg
(/etc/X11/xorg.conf) defaults to the vesa driver and a low resolution.

A lucky guess and in depth evaluation of the live cd desktop installer showed
us that if the following two packages are needed before installing xserver-xorg:
discover1
xresprobe

When these packages are present, the xserver-xorg (re)configuration is
able to provide the right configuration file. Possibly more packages are

[Bug 57591] Re: Unopkg package manager does not open

2006-08-25 Thread Toltech
I forgot to test the location of the profile. The home directory mentioned is
located on a nfs share.

Additional research now shows that the problem only exists if the
.openoffice.org2 profile is located on the nfs share. Moving the profile to a
local disk resolves the problem.

This makes the bug of a low priority, it is more a bug for openoffice
and has nothing to do with the packaging. I have filed a bug in the
openoffice bugtracker

thanks!
