[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2018-01-23 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
I'm currently at kernel version 4.14.11 and the intel firmware drivers
installed from
https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads/firmware
which are:
kbl_guc_ver9_14.bin
bxt_guc_ver8_7.bin
kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin

And the bug is still there. Although it wasn't manifesting itself until
I've connected an external screen (may coincidence though).

@Angelo Lisco
Not sure will it help in your case but have you tried setting kernel boot flag?
i915.enable_rc6=0

It's workaround not a fix, I'm afraid.

[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2017-09-19 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
I've just tried 4.13.2, screen is still blinking while on with the
default i915.enable_rc6=1.

There is an improvement though. On the kernel version 4.13 my laptop was
totally crashing after hitting caps-lock twice. Now this ridiculous one
is at least gone.

Although I still need to keep the rc6=0 flag at kernel boot params to
prevent screen flickering (an external one, connected via HDMI).

[Bug 1550779] Re: [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun - Xorg glitches

2017-09-04 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Just an update, setting a `i915.enable_rc6=0` kernel parameter helps and
the issue is gone but, as this switches of CPU and GPU energy saving,
it's rather a temporary workaround not a final solution.

2015-12-10 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Don't remember exactly but I guess it started working for me on kernel 4.0
and 4.1

Have a look here
https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/linux-on-a-new-blade.4115/
It should help.
When I tried to use the latest 4.2 kernel, the keyboard became
unresponsive and I was unable to decrypt the HD at bootup, so had to
revert...

[Bug 1315360] Re: [Razer Blade] Trackpad detected as mouse only

2014-09-17 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
I have RB14, Ubuntu 14.04 and the same problem.

I installed kernel 3.14.1 then driver mentioned in #8 and following packages:
xserver-xorg-input-multitouch xserver-xorg-input-synaptics tpconfig
After reboot touchpad was detected and workinng fine including multtitouch.
Unfortunatelly after next reboot (shutdown) it's gone, Mouse Touchpad GUI
doesn't show touchpad settings anymore.

I rebooted several times and tried repeating installation of the driver
and packages - no luck though.

Any ideas how to bring multitouch support back?

[Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups

2011-11-02 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Daniel, Bernie, I had the same issue with floating icons on drag. It was
under 11.04 where dash on primary monitor worked (the exact same monitors
config as Bernie's).
So I don't think the floating icon bug it's related to this one.

David,
When I had nvidia, proprietary driver, I succeed writing down Option
Primary true under relevant Monitor section in /etc/xorg.conf.
This was under 11.04 but may help you.

Have you managed to get dual screen working under 11.10 with nvidia?
Are you able to rotate single monitor screen?

[Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups

2011-10-31 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Thanks, I did.

This is probably out of scope here but I would like to get a bit focus
about that fact. This bug with with another one (or design decision -
not sure) leads to a silly situation.

By another bug I mean notifications appear on the right most monitor (not the
primary one as they should).
In result: when considering multiple monitors setup there is no way to get dash
and notifications on the same screen. No matter how one will connect or setup
screens.

Moreover the more monitors we connect, the greater gap between the dash and
the notifications become.
Let take f.e. 3 monitor setup. The center monitor probably will be the primary
one where we would like to have both dash and the notifications.
However dash with all launchers appears on the left monitor when notifications
go to the right one leaving middle (primary) monitor 'empty' of most
focus-important things. Kind of nonsense, isn't it?

Here's the page about notifications bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/notify-osd/+bug/331369
Pity it has 'low' priority though.

[Bug 331369] Re: regression vs. notification-daemon: positioning when multiple screens are available

2011-10-30 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Confirmed, problem still occurs on 11.10 (I'm on ATI binary drivers).

Maybe it's somehow related to this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/742544?comments=all

In both cases 'primary' flag for monitor is ignored.
Dash goes to most left monitor.
Notifications go to the most right monitor.
With multiple configuration screen no matter how one would connect and set them
even scarifying favorite arrangement. Still notifications will be on the other
monitor than dash.

That's a true no-go.

I wander how the contribution model works in Ubuntu and why such regress can be

However crashing into black boot screen with no response after a minor kernel

[Bug 742544] Re: Launcher is shown on the wrong screen in some multi-monitor setups

2011-10-28 Thread Tomasz Przybysz
Hi,

I have to ask about something really obvious. How to install the tmp fix from
ppa?
I did:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vanvugt/unity
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

got only one package upgrade xorg-something~
I see unity version is still 4.24 from original repo.

btw. I'm on ATI, any chance fix will work?

As some cases above I always use my left monitor as secondary. It's
smaller, rotated, often turned off and I use it mainly for reading docs
and stuff. No need to keep it on only for the dash launcher when some
energy could be saved.
