[Bug 1926819] Re: Empty MOTD on up-to-date systems (includes fix)
There is still value in a "you are fully up to date" message, and I would expect such a behaviour change to be optional. This has not been announced and I find myself unable to opt out. Offering users more choice is great, but, I have no choices here. That doesn't sit right. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926819 Title: Empty MOTD on up-to-date systems (includes fix) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/1926819/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1314764] [NEW] [Fujitsu Lifebook E744/E754] i8042 without psmouse means no keyboard at decryption prompt
Public bug reported: The built-in keyboard touchpad on these machines are fully PS/2 based. At first glance, building i8042 into the kernel proper seems sufficient: [2.264540] i8042: PNP: PS/2 Controller [PNP0303:KBC,PNP0f13:PS2M] at 0x60,0x64 irq 1,12 [2.274233] i8042: Detected active multiplexing controller, rev 1.1 [2.279284] serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1 [2.280742] serio: i8042 AUX0 port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12 [2.282212] serio: i8042 AUX1 port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12 [2.283683] serio: i8042 AUX2 port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12 [2.285121] serio: i8042 AUX3 port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12 However, psmouse needs to be built into the initrd to get the keyboard to start working. This is because it sits behind the touchpad on a port that will not work until initialised: [4.339219] psmouse serio2: synaptics: Touchpad model: 1, fw: 8.1, id: 0x1e2b1, caps: 0xd001a3/0x940300/0x126800, board id: 2720, fw id: 1450125 [4.339233] psmouse serio2: synaptics: serio: Synaptics pass-through port at isa0060/serio2/input0 This: CONFIG_SERIO_I8042=y Should really be accompanied by: CONFIG_MOUSE_PS2_SYNAPTICS=y Having the Synaptics support as a module leaves these laptops on an LVM2/DM-crypt password prompt with a non-working keyboard. Users can work around it by connecting a USB keyboard to jump start the machine, or add psmouse to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules . Without disk encryption, the root filesystem will be available in time and the Synaptics driver will initialise the keyboard well before the X login chooser appears. ** Affects: linux-lts-saucy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314764 Title: [Fujitsu Lifebook E744/E754] i8042 without psmouse means no keyboard at decryption prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lts-saucy/+bug/1314764/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 196122] Re: hda-codec - Backport Fujitsu ALC262 improvements from 2.6.25/2.6.26
** Summary changed: - hda-codec - Add Fujitsu Lifebook E8410 to quirk table + hda-codec - Backport Fujitsu ALC262 improvements from 2.6.25/2.6.26 ** Description changed: - Add the proper model entry for Fujitsu Lifebook E8410 with ALC262 codec. - - http://hg-mirror.alsa-project.org/alsa-kernel/rev/f86467a0bc3b + 4 improvements to the ALC262_FUJITSU model have been made past 2.6.24 and as such are not in Hardy Heron. Only the functionality of the first patch (model autoselect through a quirk table entry) can be enabled in a stock Heron installation (by editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base). + These patches will likely apply without manual editing effort on your 2.6.24 base kernel. -- hda-codec - Backport Fujitsu ALC262 improvements from 2.6.25/2.6.26 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196122 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 196122] Re: hda-codec - Add Fujitsu Lifebook E8410 to quirk table
To expand this bug report a little, this is a suggestion to backport changes to snd-hda-intel that improve the support of the Realtek ALC262 codec as used in Fujitsu Lifebook E S series laptops (specifically ICH8-based machines such as the S6410 E8410). These should apply with minimal fuzz on top of the 2.6.24 kernels you are using for Hardy Heron. Please apply in the order listed: Using the ALC262_FUJITSU model automatically with a quirk table entry: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=3f1eeaed2c0dc6c787a47ae7a6c774589a04a3a2 Enabling use of the docking station headphone port: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=5d9fab2d84963ec598810c54a67332decdd922a8 Enabling use of the 'beeper' aka PC Speaker signal: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=06a9c30cdda43ca82d7f22c8ebeb93e691f85b5f Checking the initial jack state, to avoid having both the speaker headphones on simultaneously: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux-2.6.git;a=commit;h=ebc7a406633acefc6d12c1ccc9441bfef69e0f33 These have all made it into the upstream 2.6.25 (first 3) and 2.6.26-rc3 (last patch) kernels with no bug reports on the alsa-devel mailing list. -- hda-codec - Add Fujitsu Lifebook E8410 to quirk table https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196122 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
