[Bug 1746027] [NEW] Goodix driver doesn't load (new hardware GDIX1002)

2018-01-29 Thread Ulrich Schuetz
Public bug reported:

I have a Chuwi Tablet Hi13 with Goodix Touchscreen.

The goodix driver expects to find the touchscreen with "GDIX1001".
Apparently the touchscreen has been renamed to "GDIX1002". The driver
will not load and touchscreen doesn't even show with dmesg and xinput.

I have recompiled the driver and it now works again.

I believe this should be fixed permanentley.

KUbuntu 17.10 amd64 (Kernel 4.13.0.31)

[Bug 1700609] Re: Kernel Oops. GoodIX touchscreen not working

2018-01-19 Thread Ulrich Schuetz
I can confirm this behaviour for a Chuwi H13 Tablet with Kubuntu (Ubuntu
17.10). There are a couple of reports in the Chuwi forum, concerning
tablets recently delivered.

The touchscreen does not work after install, dmesg and xinput will not
show the device. Seems to be caused by a hardware change. I figuered
that the touchscreen was expecting to be bind to "GDIX1002" instead of
"GDIX1001".

I replaced the string in the gt9xx driver code, compiled and that was
it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Ulrich
