My two step work around for this was to for example name example.TXT to example.TX? where ? is any other character but the original uppercase character X then rename example.TX? to example.txt. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center Ubuntu 9.10 The old Add/Remove Applications (gnome-app-install) had 3 panels, one of which dynamically displayed a detailed description of each package when highlighted. Software Center appears to have excluded this feature or it is not obvious how one may enable the feature if available.
