[Bug 235902] Re: mythtv livetv freezes on program boundary

2009-08-23 Thread Wade Bowmer
Due to personal circumstances, I no longer have access to this MythTV
installation and have not had funds or time to re-create it elsewhere.
If someone else is willing to take this on and test it in 0.22, that
would be awesome. If not, then I will have to abandon it.

[Bug 399613] Re: [IGC 2e12] Can't enable 'zaphod mode' with intel X server

2009-07-28 Thread Wade Bowmer
If Ubuntu doesn't want to support a feature that used to work and now
doesn't, please say so.

The current arrangement is a loss of functionality. An older driver --
and many other drivers for other hardware -- was capable of creating a
:0.0 and a :0.1 which is what the X window system has supported for
decades. The benefit of this on a modern PC is that it provides two
independant desktops which suit some kinds of workflow.

Unfortunately, RandR does not support this and that is my complaint. I
wish it did. The developers of this hardware driver have chosen to
remove a significant (albeit lesser used) feature and I thought Ubuntu
might care about that.

The only hack was that no elegant way to do it with the configuration
file was developed.

Normal xorg.conf - I'm sure you don't really need this, but it's here
for completeness. It is the one the X Server will run with.

Attempted Zaphod mode xorg.conf #1.

Based on prior experience with an older Ubuntu and an older machine
(Dell D620), I created the attached Xorg.conf.

2009-07-16 Thread Wade Bowmer
Log file from the zaphod mode test.

I could've kept trying with different variations, but as far as I could
see, the intel driver can't tell the hardware to run the way the conf
file is asking it to.

[Bug 399613] [NEW] Can't enable 'zaphod mode' with intel X server

2009-07-15 Thread Wade Bowmer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

The intel X server driver no longer supports separate X screens on
multiple outputs (so called Zaphod Mode). This is a regression error
as previous versions of the driver supported this.

What can we do to convince upstream (i.e. Intel) to add this back again?

[Bug 400050] [NEW] npviewer crashing on libcanberra-gtk error

2009-07-15 Thread Wade Bowmer
Public bug reported:

This happens when using flash in a web browser. When it happens, the
flash content does not always load. It doesn't happen with all flash
content.

The error is worst with Opera, but also comes up with FireFox. This
points to npviewer having a problem as used under Opera, *and*
libcanberra-gtk-module having a separate problem when used under either.

Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit.

Full error message:

(npviewer.bin:16438): Gdk-WARNING **: GdkWindow 0x263 unexpectedly destroyed
The program 'npviewer.bin' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 6282 error_code 3 request_code 18 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

[Bug 387108] [NEW] audio profiles won't appear even though they're marked active

2009-06-14 Thread Wade Bowmer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The problem is twofold: Rhythmbox will not display an audio profile in
the Preferences box if it can't find the binary for the profile, which
is fine. However, there is nothing tells you why it doesn't show
profiles it can't find the binary for.

In practice, this means trying to enable MP3 encoding (for example)
isn't possible and there is nothing to indicate why not.

At the very least, the profile editor should indicate that the codec
binary isn't available.

Release is 9.04, installed from CD and updated from the 'net as of
yesterday (June 14).

[Bug 235902] [NEW] mythtv livetv freezes on program boundary

2008-05-29 Thread Wade Bowmer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv-frontend

On some Australian DVB-T streams coming off-air in LiveTV mode, when it
crosses a program boundary according to the off-air EPG, the video
playback freezes. To resume, the user must exit and re-enter LiveTV
mode. All other recording and playback functionality is working
normally.

The box is running an updated Hardy Heron (last update was about 3 days
ago). It was installed as Edgy Eft some months ago and upgraded with the
update manager. In older versions of MythTV on Ubuntu, it would
sometimes stop the display with an error page: There was an error
showing video. But it was far less often than the current problem.

I can't do a re-install of the box because it is our main TV and finding
time to take it down to do that is very difficult.

[Bug 84837] Re: Gnome PPP dialogue doesn't send one-time passwords to wvdial

2007-04-21 Thread Wade Bowmer
I've also seen this behaviour. Took a while to notice because I tend to
check 'Remember password' boxes but my father prefers to type them in
each time...

It's in the gnome-ppp you get in Edgy Eft.

[Bug 108451] [Edgy] gnome-ppp doesn't kill wvdial properly

2007-04-21 Thread Wade Bowmer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-ppp

Gnome-ppp doesn't know or can't kill wvdial if gnome-ppp is told to
cancel or is otherwise interrupted. The effect is that it can no longer
open the modem port because the un-killed wvdial is still running.

Exiting gnome-ppp and restarting does fix the problem.
