[Bug 729360] [NEW] Gnome Package-manager denied permission to access sources.list

Binary package hint: pkgsel

The following error message was displayed when I attempted to open the 
Package-manager:
'E:Opening /etc/apt/sources.list -ifstream::ifstream (13: Permission denied).
I opened Terminal and entered th following: sudo chmod 751 
/etc/apt/sources.list with no change occurring.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat and the Synaptic Package Manager is 
version 0.6.3ubuntu5.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
