Hello All,
Excuse my dropping in here.
I just want to confirm the audio problems, like 'static sound' with current
kernels.
My USB DAC is a HRT Music Streamer II.
The reason for my feedback is that I did NOT have these problems with a
motherboard with nVidia chipset
Oops, please ignore #94. I forgot that I changed to a different DAC
with the nVidia system and I didn't realize that this one was not
asynchronous. The problems that I experience are related to the HRT DAC
and independent from chipset.
My apologies.

To me this seems a kernel scheduling problem and I experimented with the

version for now.

I recognize this problem. I use Lubuntu via VMWare Player 4.04. In the
VMWare display settings the maximum resolution of the monitor is set to
1680 x 1050 (same as in host system: Windows XP). Looking under Display
in System Profiler and Benchmark the settings are the same: 1680 x 1050.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and got the same bug. But then I recompiled
python-poppler-qt4 manually and the problem went away.
So the bug is probably that the ubuntu build of python-poppler-qt4
somehow is compiled for the wrong pyqt4 or sip library version.

I dont know the ins and outs of Debian/Ubuntu packaging, but I noticed
that python-poppler-qt4 does not depend on python-sip nor the sip-api
package, which PyQt4 does. Maybe this is the cause of the crash, because
the binding is generated by SIP and heavily depends on macros in the
header files of

I installed the recommended ATI video driver and would get a watermark
hardware not supported. Despite everything working (compiz) you can
imagine i was not really happy. In an attempt to have the watermark
removed i followed instructions to install the newest ATI driver
This worked for me, in addition to previous posts I like to add point 4:
1. (re)insert usb stick, it will be mounted automatically
2. unmount it
sudo umount /dev/sdb1
3. .. so we can format it
sudo mkfs -t vfat /dev/sdb1
4. make sure you dont have any ISO's mounted that are too
Tried it with my updated Ubuntu 8.10 and it works fine.

I've also updated from 8.10 to 9.04, and i have java6 installed. It will
still not work because the path to the java executable has changed. To
fix it:
$ sudo gedit /usr/bin/azureus
change
JAVA='/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/java -Xmx1024M'
to
JAVA='/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
It seems to work fine after i added the line sleep 1 directly after
modprobe in /etc/init.d/lirc.
In my case sometimes it would start-up so i reasoned that maybe it needs a bit
more time. Let me know if this really is a bad idea.
