updated Lucid system. (16 April) It was working with 9.10 as expected. I
can change the brightness by editing
/sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

i did install the fglrx-installer 2:8.721-0ubuntu3 package in lucid, and
the bug is still present. and i don't think there is a ppa for lucid
yet.

i am the head of our university computer club. lots of students are
asking me about linux, and i was telling everyone to wait for 9.10, then
try it. the problem is every student needs to use pppoe for connecting
to the internet from dorms.
now i have to tell them that they should wait some more

i am using pppoe connection for internet. however, i cant visit some
sites and i cannot use pidgin for msn on 9.04 due to wrong mtu value for
ppp0. network manager sets 1492 as mtu value for dsl connections. if i
