[Bug 1909788] [NEW] Synaptics touchpad not recognized
Public bug reported: Laptop model: Clevo P650RS-G Touchpad make: Synaptics lsb_release: 20.04.1 LTS libinput version: 0.29.0-1 The touchpad refuses to work even in Ubuntu Live boot, but it is operational in Windows 10. In previous releases, I've been able to add "i8042.reset" to the grub configuration to make the touchpad work sporadically, but that fails completely now. [Bug 1605189] Re: Authentication is required for suspending the system
This is an annoying bug that hasn't been addressed in the two and a half years it has plagued Ubuntu with the Xfce desktop. One can find bug reports going back to 14.04 after a faulty patch broke suspend. [Bug 1598628] [NEW] grub fails to install on fresh install of ubuntu
Public bug reported: during fresh install (16.04) from USB UEFI, installation fails at "install grub" step. [Bug 1510281] Re: Screen resolution not saved between sessions
I'm experiencing this bug as well. Running Xubuntu (Xfce) 15.10 (wily) x86 (kernel 4.2.0-16) connected to a 1360x768 Hyundai IQ television monitor via a standard VGA cable. In 14.04 (trusty), I can manually set the screen resolution to 1360x768 and it will survive reboots, but in 15.10 the setting will usually - but not always - revert itself to 1280x1024, which looks horrible and is non-native for this display. The login screen is *never* the correct resolution after a restart. I have only a single user configured, and no custom backgrounds selected. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1510281 Title: Screen resolution not saved between sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1510281/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1311158] Re: WebUI do not work after fresh install
I can also get what appears to be a functioning MAAS controller with web UI following Jonathan's work around. However, I'm still having a heck of a time getting the web UI to recognize the boot images I've imported through MAAS command line. It's also proving quite difficult to get a node to show up in the web UI nodes page. For the record, I'm testing all of this on VMs. The controller and all nodes will be virtualized. Also, if I run: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade it breaks my working installation and goes right back to the Internal Server error message from Apache. Updating does pull down an update to: python-django which appears to be tied to a lot of the originally posted errors. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311158 Title: WebUI do not work after fresh install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/1311158/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Created attachment 499238 alternative patch: unconditional EXTEND_PAD This is what I think should be done. Yeah, it means we're at the mercy of the video drivers on X11, but that gives us more leverage to kick the X people and the distros, and I don't like working around problems when we can fix them at source. Incidentally, my tests were all with in-tree Cairo, but I've now tried --enable-system-cairo and it made no difference. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263661 Title: Black Line appears next to gif and png images To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/263661/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263661]
Replacing the entire body of PreparePatternForUntiledDrawing with { aPattern-SetExtend(gfxPattern::EXTEND_NONE); aPattern-SetFilter(gfxPattern::FILTER_FAST); } reproduces the 3.6 behavior. Replacing it with { aPattern-SetExtend(gfxPattern::EXTEND_PAD); aPattern-SetFilter(gfxPattern::FILTER_FAST); } produces behavior which is _nearly_ correct; the image itself is upscaled correctly (instead of being gradientified and fattened), and there aren't black lines under the image at any zoom level, but some of the lines still get black blobs at their right edges at some zoom levels, and also now sometimes at their left edges. However, this happens much less often. Based on this I feel relatively confident in diagnosing a video driver bug, and my recommendation is still to rip out the entire mess and use EXTEND_PAD and a good filter unconditionally, then to work with the X.org folks to get the video drivers fixed.

I upgraded the shared pixman and cairo libraries on this computer to 0.21.2 and 1.10.0 respectively. Xorg.0.log indicates pixman 0.21 is in use. Same bad behavior with (or without) joedrew's patches. The nouveau drivers are the next obvious culprit. They haven't been updated by this distro since 2010-08-25, but I really don't want to go to the trouble of building them myself (I'd have to build my own kernel as well). Mike Hommey should have been cc:ed on this bug a long time ago. My bad. Comment on attachment 497112 Use EXTEND_PAD on X Tested http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/5d9e1a56d922 on my current Linux box: X server vendor release code 10707000, Nouveau driver 0.0.16, NV94 video chipset. The test case in attachment 351955 shows display artifacts: * with an unmodified tree; * with joe's patches for this bug and bug 566283; * and even with PreparePatternForUntiledDrawing chainsawed down to just { aPattern-SetExtend(gfxPattern::EXTEND_PAD); aPattern-SetFilter(aDefaultFilter); } The artifacts are not the same as what I get with 3.6 on the same hardware. 3.6 shows thin green lines, all the same color throughout, some of which have solid black dots at their right edges; at some zoom levels there are also solid black lines underneath the green line (with a white pixel or two in between). mozilla-central never produces the solid black dots at the right edges; however, the green lines are not all the same color throughout, they are the proper color in the middle, and fade to neutral gray at both edges. Some of the lines get black lines underneath them. And they all appear to be slightly fatter than they were in 3.6. This behavior is more or less the same regardless of whether any patches are applied (the patch seems to change subtleties of the artifacts). It is plausible to me that this is a bug in nouveau, and honestly I think the correct course of action at this point is to nuke the entire mess, use EXTEND_PAD unconditionally, and then work with the Cairo and X driver folks to figure out what's still wrong and fix it properly. Nonetheless I cannot say that this patch fixes the original problem.

[Bug 1041654] [NEW] Graphical glitches after clean install
Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 12.04 on my Compaq Presario V6000 I only was able to log in once without graphical errors. For example, when I open the settings menu, I don't see anything except a vague outline of what's supposed to be the menu. When I hover my mouse over something in the launcher, the tag is shown, and when I navigate away, it stays there. I tried re-installing twice, and this problem is not resolved. The one time it was just fine, I shut down the computer and it was glitchy again. This is really frustrating, because I would have to install another operating system to it. I downloaded the ISO file, burnt it to a CD-R, and installed Ubuntu that way because I didn't have internet access on that computer. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1041654 Title: Graphical glitches after clean install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1041654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1022716] [NEW] emacs freezes after moving window
Public bug reported: Hi I am running Ubuntu 10.04.4, with Emacs version 23.2. Occasionally, when I start a new emacs window from the terminal, and then move the window, emacs freezes. I am unable to click on anything or edit anything. When this happens I close the window and open it again. This doesn't always happens, and I think it happens most when I open the window and do not type or edit anything before I move it. [Bug 897427] Re: [Advent 4211, Realtek ALC1200, Green Headphone Out, Rear] Playback problem
With targa-2ch-dig the headphone jack mutes correctly but it is still not possible to use an external mic. The mic on the netbook chassis is the Front Microphone and this works. Meanwhile I thought I would investigate why alsa-base.conf was missing and it turns out I DIDN'T HAVE ALSA-BASE INSTALLED. This suggests a dependency bug somewhere as I have been using pulseaudio and jackd for months without any problems apart from with the headphone jack and external mic problems we have been talking about. After I installed alsa-base, the jack sensing works correctly WITHOUT adding the line to force the model. So I'm now interested to know why alex has a problem. Meanwhile it doesn't matter if I use the packaged version of alsa- base.conf, or targa-dig, or targa-2ch-dig [I just tried], I can't use the mic jack. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/897427 Title: [Advent 4211, Realtek ALC1200, Green Headphone Out, Rear] Playback problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/897427/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

So simple example: Skype through a headset. That needs the headphone jack switch AND the external microphone to work so I'll try and figure out how to get both working. [Bug 881046] Re: Panning in a virtual monitor is not possible after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10
Looks like the regression was introduced when trying to fix a problem with the mouse going into space outside of the display, when you have two displays of different sizes joined together. Here's the bug I think Bryce referred to, and it looks like that broke panning. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20334 As Bryce says there are three proposed patches (!), so the best thing we can do is try and get upstream to prioritise it. Sounds like some of the patches only fixing panning or only fix scaling. I just moved another bug from compiz to xorg - actually I now think it's just a dupe of this one, I will go and mark it. [Bug 897427] Re: [Advent 4211, Realtek ALC1200, Green Headphone Out, Rear] Playback problem
OK tried the targa-dig model. Now if I plug the headphone jack in and then mute/unmute it comes to life, which is better than having to go into kcm, but still not ideal! The Advent 4211 has an ALC888 chipset. I am sure there is a CORRECT model we should be using, guess I'll dig through the documentation some more. There don't seem to be many with only TWO jacks listed in /Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt. targa model gives similar results except the level is set incorrectly, so everything is too quiet both through speakers and through headphones. ** Description changed: My scenario: Opened System Settings, Backup, set up a backup for the first time (to an external hdd), set it off for the first backup. Closed the settings window. Later, while it's still backing up, I open System Settings again for something else, and I notice that in the launcher, instead of two tile for deja dup and system settings, it shows two arrows next to deja dup's icon (the safe), as if there were two backup windows open. + + Basically, when a backup is in progress, the System Settings window + looks like another backup window in the launcher. [Bug 789778] Re: lmms depends on wine1.2 not wine1.2+
The fix to #696189 introduced this bug. At the very least a stopgap dependency should be written in such as way that wine-1.2 or greater is allowed. Maybe during the next release (p..) we can have a look at splitting out the Wine dependency and making it a recommendation? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/789778 Title: lmms depends on wine1.2 not wine1.2+ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lmms/+bug/789778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 886442] [NEW] Expo launched with edge binding from locked screen
Public bug reported: When Expo is bound to a screen edge (in my case the bottom right corner) and the screen is locked and off, waking the display by moving directly to the edge will activate Expo. The password prompt is displayed in each virtual desktop, as well as the unity launcher and the top panel, as one would see them logged in. One cannot use anything in the launcher or panel, but information such as what windows are open, and perhaps tray notifications (I didn't test this), are visible. [Bug 852915] Re: Speaker playback volume controls headphone volume as well
So I have the opposite bug where I plug headphones in and I don't get any headphone sound even though the System Settings has noticed that I plugged them in. However if I manually change it back to speakers, with the headphones in, adjust the volume, change it to headphones and adjust the volume again, THEN I get correct volume in headphones and mute speakers, as it should be. [Bug 759213] Re: [HP Compaq 6005 Pro] Suspend does not resume
I have had this issue since karmic; still here in oneiric. I think there's some sort of race condition, because SOMETIMES it will come back and allow me to unlock the X session and THEN lock; other times it comes back to a blank screen. [Bug 836229] Re: Ubuntu 11.10 26-aug-2011 beta won't boot
So the attachment called kernel_oops is the screenshot ? This looks like the kernel has already booted fine and the problem (a hang?) is occurring much later in the process. If that is correct, then you should be able to follow the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCasper to obtain the error log or at least switch on the debug info so you can write some of it down. It cannot be a complete system hang otherwise it would also ignore the signal from the power button, so it must be something to do with the keyboard driver... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/836229 Title: Ubuntu 11.10 26-aug-2011 beta won't boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/836229/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
