[Bug 975061] Re: grub doesn't find boot

2012-04-07 Thread ZeroBeat
Hi Larry.
I think ist's in the combination: efi + grub2 in ubuntu 12.04.
If i connect another usb-storage device bevor booting the system, harddisks
change from hd4 to hd5.
grub2 doesn't recognise this change and looks for boot device on hd0.
ubuntu 11.10 works fine, using the same efi config.
Im using the following components:
asus P9X79 (asus-efi enabled)
samsung 830series (ssd) as boot
wd 2 TB as home
interal 4 x cardreader connected to the internal usb-port
Best regards Mike

[Bug 975061] [NEW] grub doesn't find boot

2012-04-06 Thread ZeroBeat
Public bug reported:

After a fresh installation of ubuntu (ubuntu-12.04-beta2-dvd-amd64) grub
doesn't find the boot partition.
grub runs rescue with error: invalid sector size 65535 (maybe grub tries to use
a card-reader slot...)
After
sett prefix=(hd4,2)/ boot/grub
set root=(hd4,2)
insmod normal
normal
the system starts correct.
See attached picture.

Standard installation (on one hard disc) causes the same error.
Installation using mbr causes the same error.
Installation using gpt causes the same error.
Disabling efi and using normal bios causes 12.04 to start in non-grafics mode.
Best regards
Mike

Natty works fine, but Oneiric freezes very often.
Maybe it's a bug in kernel 3.0.

[Bug 889607] Re: Oneiric: ata1.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA QUEUED - System freezes

2011-11-12 Thread ZeroBeat
Sorry. I'm not able to add missing log files because i switched to HITACHI -
HDD.
I tested three different harddrives (SAMSUNG 500 GB, SAMSUNG 400 GB and HITACHI
250 GB) using oneiric.
Both results of the SAMSUNGs are the same: ata1.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA
QUEUED.
Only HITACHI-HDD works fine. Maybe it's a combination between ASUS K50IN,
SAMSUNG HDD xxx GB, Kernel 3.0 and oneiric!

HowTo:

[Bug 773004] Re: Kernel oops during shutdown process

2011-05-06 Thread ZeroBeat
Logging out and shutting down doesn't work for me properly. Sometimes it works,
sometimes system freezes and sometimes system restarts instead of power down.
We have to wait for new fglrx.
Best regards
Mike

2011-05-04 Thread ZeroBeat
Sometimes system reboots instead of power off, and sometimes i must do
Ctrl+Alt+Del to shutdown.
By the way, nvidia driver isn't better. On my other system are many problems
caused by nvidia driver.

[Bug 718201] Re: printing an utf8-file from gedit causes some wrong letters

2011-02-14 Thread ZeroBeat
Finaly I tried to print something from geany. Same problems with wrong letters.
See attached file.
As you can see, instead of the 't' from 'cet' there's a wrong letter.

I did several captures, but the captures are allways ok.

By the way - printing from OpenOffice writer is always ok.
Best regards
Mike

2011-02-14 Thread ZeroBeat
Hi Pascal.
First i will try HP Color LaserJet CP1510 Series Postscript (recommended)
driver, because nearly everything (except gedit and geany) works fine (On my
other machine runs lucid. Printing from geany and gedit are ok - next i'll try
is natty).
If this wont work, i'll try the ppd.

Best regards
Mike

Printing in natty is also ok. I tested geany and gedit and got what i expected
(like in lucid before). It seems, bug is only in maverik.

[Bug 700678] Re: shotwell shows only first picture from digicam

2011-02-04 Thread ZeroBeat
Hi Jim.
No, the problem hasn't gone away. Only if use gphoto2 from the command line,
shotwell works fine.
If I don't start gphoto2 before shotwell, shotwell doesn't work.
Bye

[Bug 700678] Re: shotwell shows only first picture from digicam

2011-02-04 Thread ZeroBeat
Hi Jim.
Some good news.
After installing the brand new natty alpha 2 (must do that, because last update
went wrong and killed my system), shotwell works now fine. All photos are
transferd from the camera to the pc.
I think, bug is solved in alpha 2 and can be closed.
Attached camera.log from natty alpha 2
Bye
Mike

2011-01-23 Thread ZeroBeat
Correction.
The bug appears on every maximized window. Now i think it's a bug in unity,
because it's impossible to select something in the first ten lines of a
maximized window of a program (firefox, nautilus, etc...).
Best regards.
