[Bug 2077220] Re: (i915) external monitor flickering in 6.8.0-40.40~22.04.3

2024-08-22 Thread Abdullah Al Mamun
Hi, Philip Cox

Do I use these steps to test "i915.enable_psr2_sel_fetch=0"?

1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

2. Then replace
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
by
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.enable_psr2_sel_fetch=0"

3. sudo update-grub

Do I need to do anything else. Please let me know..

Thanks

[Bug 1937127] Re: Gnome-shell animations smoother when external monitor is connected

2021-07-22 Thread Sarmad Abdullah
That sounds like a heavy solution to lock the frequency at the max.

How come this issue wasn't there in PopOS 20.04 (wayland session)? Was
there a regression somewhere in the stack in 21.04, or is PopOS doing
its own tuning? I haven't tried Ubuntu 20.04, nor PopOS 21.04, to know
whether PopOS was doing something different, or just the older stack.

[Bug 1937127] Re: Gnome-shell animations smoother when external monitor is connected

2021-07-21 Thread Sarmad Abdullah
Years? Ouch. That's a bit too much. I understand that the switch to
triple buffering can be a lot of work, but isn't there some hacky
solution to improve the situation in the mean time? Something like
manually telling the GPU to be in the same mode that it's in when an
external monitor is connected, at least when an the machine is plugged
into a power outlet?

[Bug 1937127] [NEW] Gnome-shell animations smoother when external monitor is connected

2021-07-21 Thread Sarmad Abdullah
Public bug reported:

When no external monitor is connected Gnome Shell activities animation
is sluggish. Once an external monitor is connected the animation becomes
noticeably smoother. It looks like the OS is not properly responding to
the extra processing demands by raising the CPU/GPU performance, and
having an external monitor connected somehow triggers a higher
performance level.

This is on a System76 Darter Pro machine with Intel® Core™ i7-8565U and
Intel UHD 620 running Ubuntu 21.04 in Wayland session.

[Bug 1870779] Re: [nvidia] Ubuntu 20.04 beta: Blank/black screen after login on an Nvidia-only desktop (GeForce GTX 1060)

2021-06-07 Thread Muhammad Abdullah
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1869750 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1869750

I am using Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.
It was working fine then PC feeling a little slow so I tried to restart the PC.
When it did not respond I forced power off but pressing the power button.
When I restarted the PC, the display was working fine until the login screen.
As soon as I logged in, the screen went black. I tried to restart it many times
but got the same response. No display after loggin into the PC. The keyboard
lights for num lock and caps lock are not lit either.
However I connected via ssh from another PC and the PC is ON.
I got the Xorg log file attached below.

[Bug 1310316] Re: Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly

2014-05-12 Thread Abdullah Enes ÜNAL
I have similar but different issue with my Ubuntu 14.04.

After I change the ratio, the scale ratio, to 0.75, all was well.
However after I login back, there was only texts scaled, there was no
scaled graphic items. When I scale again to back 1.0, all graphic items
got like 1.25 scaling.

I couldn't found a solution yet, but this scaling issues really harmful
for my eyes now.

Hope this help to find bug easily.

Regards,
Enes.

pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache': No such file or directory

This likely means that your installation is broken.
Try running the command
  gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders >
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache
to make things work again for the time being.

after that I got windows decoration buggy (red shadow) in google chrome
You can see the picture here :

Reinstalling the lib and othe packages fixed it :
sudo aptitude reinstall gir1.2-gdkpixbuf-2.0 gtk2-engines-pixbuf
libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 libgdk-pixbuf2.0-common

[Bug 875393] Re: The entire system lock up

2011-10-22 Thread abdullah
apport information

** Description changed:

After I upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10, I noticed that the entire system lock
up on me and this is the 3rd time it happens when I leave the computer
running for around an hour without using it.

  I tired ctrl+alt+delete
  ctrl+alt+backspace
  alt+F4
  nothing works.

  My laptop is
  Asus G51VX
and another problem whech I had for several Ubuntu releases in the same
laptop is
some of the keyboard are miss mapped for the English Keyboard for United state
for example the key for the "OR" in C or C++ programming which is also the
backward slash > they are mapped to
'<' and when I press the shift key, i get this '>'
without the single quotation of coerce.

  Thank you
