A few questions you can ask to make sure of that:
- Do you get any error message at all?
- Which nvme items do you see in /dev when in BusyBox, and which ones when you
boot normally using kernels that work for you?

I reinstalled virtualbox by doing:

The use of linuxprinting.org ppds as a package helped the situation.
However the driver was partially working, and only with the previous
version of cups.

Usplash problem
I have a similar problem and attached a shoot. Unistalling the ubuntu
theme I got some measures oof the usplash that seem to be fine. This
ubuntu theme gives wired figure. Tried to use another theme (xubuntu,
kubuntu) but could not be loaded.
