[Bug 1958147] Re: Nvidia acceleration has gone
i have continued to have performance issues which are charecterised by chrome making preload go nuts , its particularly bad when video is involved. I discovered this by watching top when i got load spikes and noticing that when i rebooted preload was bring the problem back. i removed preload and now i don't get the same problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958147 Title: Nvidia acceleration has gone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1958147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1615734] Re: Multiple monitors broken
am seeing this on ubuntu 18.04 with a dell m3800 and OWC thunderbolt 2 dock and 4k iiyama 40 inch screen attach via displayport. My internal 13inch 4k screen is initialised immediately but the external monitor tries to sync but often times out. It looks to me as if this is just an issue with timeouts , surely the driver can made aware that its trying to sync and external screen so should allow longer. This seems to be excerbated by my having different scaling levels on each screen Sometimes my laptop screen comes back with a strip missing down the side or the the external monitor is at the wrong resolution. EVERY time it randommly rearranges my windows and triggers a bug with scaling in some qt5 apps (virtualbox , notes) where they get scaled up . Its very annoying having to keep re-arangeing things. raring ringtail is still attempting to rip cd's at 11khz which might ok if you are listening to herb alpert (probably makes it more interesting) but if you are listening to anything made in the last 20 years (i.e electronic music with a huge dynamic range like say Reso , Noisia or Frederick Robinson) its annoying. Can we not just have a dialog pop up when you first try ripping that asks you which settings you want to use ? i have the same issue i think. since upgrading to raring my gmail account credentials have been broken. i now get "GDBus.Error:org.gnome.OnlineAccounts.Error.NotAuthorized: Did not find password with username `m...@amias.net' in credentials" when checking mail. i can't remove or edit the account from evolution because its some kind of dbus thing. i tried removing and restoring the account from online accounts in System settings but no change. i tried to edit the passwords in seahorse but couldn't make any sense of it and was somewhat shocked that it shows the passwords without needing any password to unlock. [Bug 543440] Re: In Ubuntu Lucid Beta 1, firefox crashes on start, triggering apport "eternal loop" of bug reporting
i had this problem , i started in safe-mode and chose to disable addons . this made it start ok. i then closed it and restarted normally and it worked ok. it then failed again and i did the same but checked the addon list and found that the web developer toolbar and split panel addons that i'm using where flag as not compatible , i disabled them and restarted and it all seems fine again. maybe a bug in the handing of incompatible addons ? -- In Ubuntu Lucid Beta 1, firefox crashes on start, triggering apport "eternal loop" of bug reporting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/543440 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i have a dell vostro 1710 and have been experiencing the same lack of stabilty since upgrading . i've been with ubuntu for several years and this is the worst release yet :( :( :( There is clearly something going wrong with : ACPI - power management is not making sense anymore and my battery is discharging faster than it used to MOUSE and KEYBOARD - mostly fixed with the gotos grub params , still not as stable as it used to be AUDIO - pulseaudio , it still sucks and is still not properly configured DBUS - clearly getting random signals from ACPI and breaking GDM - i can login using the latest ubuntu kernel This is a serious regression. -- [jaunty] Keyboard and Mouse Frozen on Login Screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335297 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 305525] Re: built-in mic not working with snd-hda-intel on Dell Vostro 1710
i have a dell vostro 1710 and have similar problems under both intrepid and jaunty. my built in mic will not record anything but noise despite trying all the combinations of model flags (dell,3stack,laptop-eapd) and module load and mixer options. The main problem here is that people are assuming that all dell vostro's use the same chipset and they dont , it changes with the model numbers (see gentoo wiki) This is also getting tangled up in other confusions because the snd-hda-intel driver is used by many different soundcards all with different codecs and different i/o layouts so this will almost certainly not be relevant to other models. mine uses a Realtek ALC268 , as verified by the output of cat /proc/asound/Intel/codec#0 (see attachment for output) I'm a pretty experienced linux user and am happy to help provide more info and or test if needed , i would love to have this working for me and for others. [Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again
noticed the same thing and solved it by adding a killall -9 nautilus to /etc/gdm/PreSession/default and /etc/gdm/PostSession/default . This prevents nautilus from chewing cycles when people are not logged in instead of just waiting untill someone logs in again. This also works if X dies randomly or someone does Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. Beware that if you use xdmcp or some other way of having more than one session at once then other nautilui will be killed by this .
