Oh no :) this one does not happen under Feisty. On Edgy I fixed this
following the recommendations on launchpad. But on Feisty this does
not happen.
One thing that happens, however is malfunctioning of suspend to RAM
feature - the laptop suspends and when it resumes the screen is not
backlighted,
Strange. My machine is nx7400 RH674ES if this helps.

This also happens on my HP nx7400 64-bit Ubuntu 6.10. 100% of times when
I try to change brigtness. I have tried changing brightness under
windows and in bios setup - it works. So the problem is in Ubuntu.
