When X fails to start, I don't get the safe mode screen; I just have a
blinking cursor in the top left corner. This occurs during random
bootups, and without any interaction; the failure is before the
username/password textbox is presented. I'm not sure what the something
happening during login
I forgot to mention: sometimes it takes two or three sudo service
lightdm restart attempts before the system proceeds normally. In other
words, it will bootup, go to the blinking cursor, I'll restart lightdm,
and it will go to the blinking cursor again. Sometimes if I'm fast, I
can catch it
I have applied Ciprian's fix from #127 to no avail.
Here are my new logs, with the change applied. I didn't spot any
difference.

Public bug reported:
As per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unattended-
upgrades/+bug/1052360/comments/17, I am filing a new bug with the
specific error I am running into. This has been going on for quite a

I just ran into this bug again. It used to happen frequently, then it
stopped for a long time so I thought it was fixed. Apport sent me here.
Hopefully the crash log was sent off as well.
Note: I am on Ubuntu Raring.

I am also affected by this bug. Has a fix actually been released (as suggested
by the bug watch update)?
If not, I would be willing to work on a patch if someone could steer me in the
right direction.

I can confirm I still get this bug on 12.10 after a software update.
Attached is a screenshot of the error report details, where I've
highlighted an erroneous message about gnupg and gpgv being out of date,
when in fact they are fully up-to-date on my system.

I get this bug reliably and reproducibly.

1. Boot into Ubuntu
2. Wait roughly one minute
3. Crash notification that unattended-upgrades crashed with this signature.
Note: The crash dialogue even directed me to this Launchpad thread...
I am running 12.04

What a shame. Same specs as elhoir, indicator-weather has also been
crashed for me lately. Does this mean the project is abandoned? Does
Canonical know about this?
