[Bug 370552] Re: Slow flash video playback on Intel 945gm

2009-07-08 Thread beefcurry
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 314928 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/314928

I really don't think this belongs as a duplicate, applying the solution
for the duplicate has little relevance to this bug.

I don't seem to be able to get a 3D performance increase with this
mtrr_cleanup in grub, I am using this in conjunction with bleeding edge
xserver-xorg and kernel 2.6.30.

[Bug 386150] Re: Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly

2009-06-15 Thread beefcurry
I like and use everything in the current nautilus tool bar, zoom,
location bar, and like the large icons. The options are there if anyone
wants to disable items, rather then change it (which I don't think is
necessary) we should just make it so it can be edited with ease (like in
epiphany).

Having large buttons are surprisingly good if you use them alot,
especially on small screens, you would expect smaller buttons to be
better since they give more screen space for the icons, but it makes
navigating and clicking on them harder. On an netbook the larger buttons
work like a charm.

[Bug 220119] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 RC + NVIDIA binary drivers = often crash/freeze

2008-06-22 Thread beefcurry
I can confirm, I had thought it was heat related but after I had started
monitoring the heat I found out it crashed/freezed at relatively cool
levels. When using the Nvidia drivers from the restricted drivers
manager my system would be constantly crashing especially when running
video, flash or other graphically intensive applications. Switching off
the nvidia drivers helps alot but would still occasionally crash, but
much less. In my case the whole system crashes, having the mouse still
active would probably mean xorg is fine but something else is acting up.

2008-06-16 Thread beefcurry
I have this from the recent kernel updates in 8.04. I can only ration
time spent using anything that might bump my cpu cycles up. I have
turned off my Wlan, seems to contribute to around 4C in heat, Xorg
itself running can contribute a fair 5-6C in heat. I can't isolate where
its heating up since the RAM, GPU and CPU are really close together on
my Dell XPS M1330 I guess all I can do now is carry on using CLI or
going back to older Kernel versions. Heat recorded with watch acpi -V

I confirm this, it still exists on Gutsy Gibbon (as of now Tribe 5).
This was fsck'ing a drive mounted as /media/sda4 as ext3. fsck fails

one behaviour of this bug is that It does not seem to locate any
packages at all. It recommends installing it through sudo apt-get
install less however it fails to find both the sudo and apt packages.

[Bug 91869] Constant NetworkManager crashing

Public bug reported:

I accidentally started NetworkManager again by using the terminal with
gksudo NetworkManager. That caused a Crash message to appear telling me
NetworkManager has crashed. However this crash message seems to go on
for infinite times as it does not end, no matter how many times I press
close (the one next to report problem) it comes back up in the next
second. NetworkManager works and is working because I am using it for

It does not affect my daily use and testing however it is very annoying
