sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc gives no result

I think I found a solution
as stated in xorg.conf I updated the file
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
all problems (openoffice.org, wine(picassa), and diplay of videos ) seems to be
solved
