[Bug 1947499] Re: Xubuntu installation on Lenovo E325 fails on EFI mode

2021-10-17 Thread I-Cat
Looks like partman made ext2
EfI requires FAT File system
I see no Fat File system on your device to make EFI work.

You Could Use a bootable Usb Device To Format/Partition The Disk.

To install Python 2 version on Ubuntu open a terminal and enter one of
the following commands: $ sudo apt install python2 OR $ sudo apt install
python-minimal.

defaults/python2-dev_2.7.17-2ubuntu4_amd64.deb

A Virtual box has many limitations.
It has driver issues.

Idea:
Make the VM On your P.C and Export it as .ova file
Share the .ova file To Your Students
Import the VM

The pnp Driver is a printer driver that is pointing to your desktop.

[Bug 1914850] Re: Heavy Distortion while i'm using vmware player

2021-02-09 Thread ilove my cat
I've noticed, that this Problem only apperes, if i'm working with multiple
Workspaces in gnome. Usualy, i've put the VM on the Second Workspaces.
Since i left the VM on the first Workspace (so, total one Workspace), this
Problem won't accure. Before, this happened after about 1h. This is what i can
say after about 8h of work.
To be sure, i will test this furthermore.

** Description changed:

While i am Using Vmware player (open-vm-tools installed), suddenly, the
screen start flickering and fully distortion. At this Point, you cant
see anything on the VM (because the distortion are so heavy) and the
- only way to resolve this is to close the VM and start it again until
- this happens again. At the moment, this happened, the following appears
- in the dmesg log:
+ only way to resolve this is to close the VM (or suspend and resume) and

I can prove, this always appears when the described bug appears.

[Bug 1914850] [NEW] Heavy Distortion while i'm using vmware player

2021-02-06 Thread ilove my cat
Public bug reported:

While i am Using Vmware player (open-vm-tools installed), suddenly, the
screen start flickering and fully distortion. At this Point, you cant
see anything on the VM (because the distortion are so heavy) and the
only way to resolve this is to close the VM and start it again until
this happens again. At the moment, this happened, the following appears
in the dmesg log:

[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 :00:02.0: [drm] Resetting rcs0 for
preemption time out
[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 :00:02.0: [drm] vmx-mks[7873] context reset
due to GPU hang
[Fr Feb 5 23:32:21 2021] i915 :00:02.0: [drm] GPU HANG: ecode
9:1:85db, in vmx-mks [7873]

I can prove, this always appears when the described bug appears.

Before, i'm using also the same setup (OS, Env), but, an other Intel
GPU. This did never Happen.

[Bug 1713615] Re: ttf-mscorefonts-installer fails because Redirection from https to http is forbidden

2019-10-27 Thread Schröshire Cat
This seems to be a recurrent and intermittend problem. I have just run into it
again, installing Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Server. One one box, no problem, on the
other fail.
In some attempts it fails at the beginning, in others after download of a few
fonts. And the most
annoying thing is, that the package is recorded as installed, even when the
installation fails, so you have to do multiple apt purge... apt install...

[Bug 1764727] Re: Possible caja memory leak

2018-05-12 Thread Cat Stevens
I've also observed this. Over ~5 to 7 hours, caja version 1.20.2 memory
usage reaches 2.5 or 3GB on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic x86_64.

Killing the process causes it to free the memory, and it caja is
restarted with no side-effects.

[Bug 1638945] Re: package libc6:amd64 2.23-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: package libc6:amd64 is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status 'half-installed')

2017-03-15 Thread Ceiling Cat
Shortly after installation, I went into update-
manager->Settings->Updates and unselected everything except for
"Important security updates". This seemed to be the cause of the problem
I was observing (may not be the case for others). To fix, I selected
"Recommended updates", ran apt-get update, and then unselected
"Recommended updates".

This prevents the installation of g++, gcc-multilib, g++-multilib among
others. gcc can still be installed but it can only generate binaries
that don't depend on libc.

This bug does not seem to appear when a system is upgraded from lubuntu
14.04.

[Bug 1198632] Re: bleachbit breaks firefox

2013-07-08 Thread cat
that's really strange. I use ubuntu 12.04 and firefox just shows the
error from #comment 2 whenever I delete the ~/.cache/mozilla. I'll try
to find out what's the reason.

[Bug 1198632] Re: bleachbit breaks firefox

2013-07-08 Thread cat
So, the thing is that I've removed everything from
~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/profileName/ and firefox starts ok. But when I
remove the (empty!!!) profile folder firefox refuses to start and says
it's unable to load profile.

2013-07-07 Thread cat
Public bug reported:

Firefox 21-22 stores cache files in home/user/.cache/mozilla. Bleachbit
cleans the cache and removes the mozilla folder, which causes firefox
unable to start.

It was closed. I've just reproduced the bug to get this screenshot.
Recreating the ~/.cache/mozilla folder doesn't help. I had to recover
from backup.
