[Bug 24061] Re: GPG error with apt-get (BADSIG 40976EAF437D05B5)

2010-02-10 Thread catphive
This happens to me in karmic with ftp as well. Whether it is ubuntu's fault or not, there needs to be a fix. Throwing up your hands just makes it impossible for a lot of people to use Ubuntu. Apt-get on Ubuntu is too fragile right now, and breaks whenever anyone sneezes in its general direction.

[Bug 445385] Re: Installer hangs at 80% on "Configuring apt"

2010-01-27 Thread catphive
I just installed the ubuntu 32 bit cd from the website. The same problem occurred. It let me skip the install step with the skip button, but then apt-get is borked after install. All apt-get updates hang indefinitely. *not fixed* Note: I used the wubi install mechanism -- Installer hangs at 80%

[Bug 36761] Re: Without ja_JP as default environment, Japanese font looks horrible for certain font sizes

2009-12-29 Thread catphive
I'm also using both japanese and english, with the default english install. The fonts seemed to be just missing geometry in some of the more complicated kanji... I'm not a native japanese speaker, but I *think* it was just because the fonts were bad, and not a legitimate variation in the font. Eit

[Bug 402833] Re: ia32-archive causes repository reload to take long time

2009-10-22 Thread catphive
This bug effectively makes apt-get unusable. Is anyone working on it? Will it at least be fixed in Ubuntu 9.10? It doesn't look like it's even been triaged yet to me... -- ia32-archive causes repository reload to take long time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/402833 You received this bug notifica

[Bug 396205] Re: ia32 compat on ubuntu 64 9.04 breaks apt-get update

2009-08-17 Thread catphive
Yes, this is completely ridiculous. I opened this bug in June, and it's not even triaged yet. Is this common for the ubuntu project? I can understand if bugs are backed up, but that no developer has even looked at it and marked the severity level or hand it off to someone? This is a show stopper

[Bug 396205] [NEW] ia32 compat on ubuntu 64 9.04 breaks apt-get update

2009-07-06 Thread catphive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apt 32 bit compatibility libraries on ubuntu 9.04 cause apt-get update to fetch files from debian ftp servers, and do some kind of time consuming operation that takes so long it effectively makes apt-get update (and the equivalent tool in synaptic) comple
