according to
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8221877/gitk-setting-ignore-space-change-option-to-be-true-by-default
  ,
I added
set ignorespace 1 # the added line
into ~/.config/git/gitk file,
however, this file is overwritten every time when gitk exit.
and the added line is removed.

It seems that it's not necessary recreate ~/.config/git/gitk , please advice,
and
Thanks !

same vendor request failed -110

BTW, do you know any tool that can monitor the USB traffic? if have this
kind of tool, I can capture some log on Win10 to find where is the
problem.

2017-10-06 Thread chenzero
forget to mention test result:
same vendor request failed with -110 event long timeout

BTW, this looks like this is a bad adapter, however, I tried this adapter in
Win10, it definitely can work.
In Windows, it must install dirver files from another company named Tplink, but
from lsusb, its chip is from Ralink, whether the Tplink driver in Win10 might
use some different vendor specific request ? I meant, Tplink driver uses some
different request to implement some function, however, Tplink still uses Ralink
USB id(146f:7601), so, if this, timeout (-110) will occur.

[Bug 1716301] Re: wifi driver: mt7601u not work on 16.04

2017-10-02 Thread chenzero
I tried on kernel 4.13. that's,

add "mt7601u.dyndbg=+p" into grub.cfg, so the lines are :
menuentry {
 .
 linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.13.0-041300-generic
root=UUID=f4f53ad3-0e42-46e5-a9f2-679314bf74bf ro  quiet splash $vt_handoff
mt7601u.dyndbg=+p
 initrd /boot/initrd.img-4.13.0-041300-generic
}
reboot,

$ cat /proc/cmdline // the output shows that param is add
BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.13.0-041300-generic
root=UUID=f4f53ad3-0e42-46e5-a9f2-679314bf74bf ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7
mt7601u.dyndbg=+p

It seems that no much differences in the dmesg log.
Please see the attached kernel-param.txt

BTW, I also tried to add "mt7601u.dyndbg=+p" in the /etc/sysctl.conf,
reboot, however, it seems this doesn't have effect because "sudo sysctl
-a|grep mt" doesn't show the parameter.

Regards

[Bug 1716301] Re: wifi driver: mt7601u not work on 16.04

2017-09-26 Thread chenzero
I just fell a little strange that is , why some info log in mt7801u is not
printed,
e.g: in 09-26.2.txt, no any log about mt7601u. however, in mt7801u code, it
printed those info

[ 127.095245] mt7601u 1-1.4:1.0: ASIC revision: 76010001 MAC revision: 76010500
[ 127.146876] mt7601u 1-1.4:1.0: Firmware Version: 0.1.00 Build: 7640 Build
time: 201302052146

and I sometimes still can see on kernel 4.13 or 4.4.0-91
  Vendor request failed with -110.

what's the differences between replying on system to automatically switch mode
and I manually eject the disk , or if I run command
sudo usb_modeswitch -v 148f -p 2878 -V 148f -P 7601 -K

Thanks !

[Bug 1716301] Re: wifi driver: mt7601u not work on 16.04

2017-09-26 Thread chenzero
I tried kernel 4.13. however, no much diff with kernel 4.4.0-91.
I must mention that in both kernel, no ALAWAYS the adapter is automatically
recoginized as 148f:7601, sometimes, it still mounted as 148f:2878, sometimes,
it's 7601. ( I found the pattern is: unplug the adapter, wait a relative long
time, e.g: 1 or 2 minutes, plug the adapter, then it's 7601. if immediately
plug in the adapter, say just wait 10 seconds, mostly, it's mounted as usb
stroage disk and will not change to 7601).

I can use following command to switch mode, with errors, but mode
changed to 7601.

chenzero@chenzero:/usr/share/usb_modeswitch$ sudo usb_modeswitch -v 148f -p
2878 -V 148f -P 7601 -K

This time, the adapter is first recognized as 148f:7601.
and the dmesg output is some different.

Although still can not find any interface by "ifconfig -a", and can not
select wifi in the "Network Manager", it's promosing to let the adapter
work, at least the GMS modem work now.

[Bug 1716301] Re: wifi driver: mt7601u not work on 16.04

2017-09-25 Thread chenzero
@Kai-Heng Feng,
I guess adding that line in the /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules is
to automatically switch the adpater to wireless card mode, however, after added
that line,
and tried restart service udev (sudo service udev restart), the adpater is
still first mounted
as usb storage disk (yes, lsusb only show 148f:2878, I must click an icon on
the Launch Bar to eject the disk, and lsusb changed to 148f:7601.

I even tried the line:
 ATTR{idVendor}=="148f", ATTR{idProduct}=="2878", RUN+="usb_modeswitch '%b/%k'"
because most other lines in that file using %b/%k
however, both no have any change( still first mount as usb disk)

Thanks for your help!

Yes, it's first mounted as a readonly USB disk, including driver files for
Windows.
and lsusb shows:

after eject disk, it shows:

2015-10-19 Thread chenzero
I encountered the same problem in 14.04.1 x64
BTW, I found that another system setting -- Mouse & Touchpad also not saved
after reboot.
reproduce steps:
1. Open System Settings >> Mouse & Touchpad.
2. OFF Touchpad
3. reboot, and Touchpad is active, I wish it's disabled.

Thanks!

[Bug 1270579] Re: On laptops, screen brightness and keyboard backlight isn't memorized between sessions

2015-10-19 Thread chenzero
some workaround:
to disable touchpad, add a line in .bashrc
gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad touchpad-enabled
false

another way to adjust brightness:
1. cd /sys/class/backlight/$COM_backlight/
2. check the value in the file: max_brightness
3. sudo open the file:brightness and set it to [0, max-brightness), NOTE: MUST
< max-brightness.

for convinence, create a shell script, and sudo it.

#!/bin/bash
# NOTE: the prefer value MUST < max-brightness.
echo "you prefer value" > /sys/class/backlight/$COM_backlight/brightness

[Bug 1168467] Re: phy0 - rt2800pci_mcu_status: Error AND [drm:gen6_sanitize_pm] *ERROR*

2013-07-01 Thread chenzero
Hi ksenija,
building kernel from source code is a experienced skill, there are some pre
compiled kernel image on :
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
usually, double clicking the DEB file in the nautils will install the kernel.

to see which kernel you have, run following command in a Terminal:
uname -a

to see error report
dmesg | grep -i error ( grep -i error will filter for errors)

2013-06-25 Thread chenzero
Hello Runner,
yes, I can confirm that the 3.3.6 kernel is very stable on my computer. I never
encountered those freeze any more.
just a little problem in the VirtualBox. sometimes, the virtual machine
disappeared.
I think it's in the virtualbox kernel modules because when I compile those
modules, it showed something warning. nevertherless, because I seldom use
virtualbox, so, I don't think it's a problem.

please try the steps in my post #7, and some posts below it. the kernel
3.3.6 is really great and I am currently using:

uname -a

BWT, my latest ubuntu 12.04 box is often freeze.(mouse stop, any keys:
Ctrl+Alt+F1/Del, NumLock, CapsLock etc are not reponsible)
I tried check hardware:
run sensors command , and CPU temperature is ok(~30C) (most time, the freeze
occured when CPU load is not high)
check memory, passed.
run disk check, passed
and run some games, e.g: torcs, Never freeze.
It seems that the freeze mostly occurs when opening/saving files. but I can not
reproduce it.

Thanks!

[Bug 1015097] Re: mount.ntfs high CPU usage

2013-03-31 Thread chenzero
At last, I did not mount the ntfs as the HOME directory, (instead, use ext3)
and now, Ubuntu works great!
Thanks!

[Bug 1015097] Re: mount.ntfs high CPU usage

2013-03-30 Thread chenzero
Hello,
I also encountered this problem on the current latest 12.04(Mar 31,2013).
but there are not any files copy in the shell.

the top command shows that mount.ntfs uses high CPU usage.(sometimes 100%),
more worse is, mount.ntfs runs a long time with this high CPU usage. and almost
makes the system unusable

the /etc/fstab mount info is:
/dev/sda2 /home/chenzero ntfsutf8,umask=007,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
/dev/sda7 /windows/e ntfsutf8,umask=007,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
(uid, gid is my user id and group id)

Any idea on how to fix this ?
Thanks!

[Bug 502484] Re: Incorrect checksum in table [OEMB]

2011-04-01 Thread chenzero
Hello,
whether this fix has been delivered to the Upgrade Server ?

I encountered this problem on the latest 10.04, (have ran apt-get
update;apt-get upgrade;)
$uname -a
Linux delta1 2.6.32-30-generic #59-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 1 21:30:21 UTC 2011 i686
GNU/Linux

please see the attached dmesg.txt

Can you give some ideas how to fix this ? ( I have concern because my ubuntu
box
sometimes randomly hang (interval is about 3 hours),I am not sure whether the
reason
is related to apci or not, but I found this error in the dmesg).

Thanks!

[Bug 502255] Re: Sound crackling in Ubuntu 10.04 with SB Audigy

2011-03-31 Thread chenzero
Hello,
I also encountered the this problem in 10.04. (a totally installation, not
upgrade)
the problem scenario is, after reboot, in the beginning, the sound is audible,
however,
once changing the sound volume or drag the progress bar in the Totem Movie
Player,
the sound becomes crackling noise.

I triedapt-get update;apt-get upgrade,
and re-installed the alsa-base packages.

Following is my box info, ( I tried apport-collect -p alsa-base 502255, but
it prompted that:
