[Bug 1049451] [NEW] Gnome Screenshot does not work with Zeitgeist if you change the default image viewer to Gwenview

2012-09-11 Thread clockworkpc
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 completely up to date.
Package: 3.4.1-0ubuntu1

BACKGROUND:

I changed the default application for PNG files in Nautilus to GwenView.
(So that when I click on a screenshot it would open GwenView)

What I expected to happen:

1) Take a screenshot with gnome-screenshot
2) Find the most recent file recorded by Zeitgeist to be the screenshot
3) Find the screenshot in the Unity Dash

WHAT HAPPENED:

1) Took a screenshot with gnome-screenshot
2) The screenshot was saved, but not recorded in Zeitgeist
3) The screenshot did not appear in the Unity Dash.

FIX:

Changed the default application for PNG files back to the default Eye of
Gnome. (eog)

1) Took a screenshot
2) The screenshot was recorded as the most recent file by Zeitgeist
3) The screenshot appeared in the Unity Dash.

** Affects: gnome-screenshot (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

@Gourgi that worked for me too! Obviously someone needs to work on the

*bump*

With only a few days to go before release, I'm still getting problems on
my installation which is completely up to date. When the official
release comes out I'll try for a fresh install though and see how that
works.

[Bug 573160] Re: Nautilus browser doesn't automatically refresh

2010-10-26 Thread clockworkpc
I recently set up Ubuntu on a new computer and came across this problem
again. I only noticed it after installing Dropbox, so this reinforces
my suspicion that Dropbox has something to do with it. Additionally,
Dropbox seems to drag on Nautilus.

Does anyone know of a good alternative to Dropbox?

[Bug 655528] Re: Attempt to record video as MKV file causes guvcview crash

2010-10-07 Thread clockworkpc
@ Paulo Assis, thank you for directing me to your PPA.

I have successfully tested the creation of videos in MKV and have posted
a video demonstrating this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQwLXERqmiY

Thank you to the makers of guvcview for this wonderful little program. I
appreciate it very much.
By the way, what is the best way to make a donation to your project? Is it
BerliOS?

[Bug 573160] Re: Nautilus browser doesn't automatically refresh

2010-09-26 Thread clockworkpc
@ Daniel Pendolino

Did you have any trouble editing /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches?

I tried:
gksudo gedit /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches

And it told me Unexpected error: Error writing to file: Invalid
argument

Funnily enough when I re-ran:
gksudo gedit /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches

The value had changed to 32000. But I couldn't make a backup copy of
the file either via gedit, nautilus, or even the terminal. According to
sudo nautilus the File Properties windows has the file size as 0 bytes.

[Bug 573160] Re: Nautilus browser doesn't automatically refresh

2010-09-26 Thread clockworkpc
@ Daniel Pendolino

Thanks for the tip :)

It seems to have worked. I've tested it and Nautilus refreshes
immediately. I'll see how it goes though.

Thanks for explaining how to make the change persistent. I've appended
the line 'fs.inotify.max_user_watches=32000' to /etc/sysctl.conf and
will check it out on the next reboot.

Same here:

times.

I'd really just like to add tasks to Remember The Milk straight from the
terminal. Is there such a command line application for Linux?

Thanks
