Regression: block staircase display
I had that same issue with xubuntu after 18.04 upgrade. First install
vino. Mine was removed on upgrade without any notice. Also even after
installing vino, the command vino-preferences doesn't work. Here is an
easy workaround. Install dconf-editor then open it and go to org-gnome-
desktop-remote
please explain how to do the patch

Good news, the problem disappeared after upgrade to 16.04 (lots of other
system bugs appeared however). Now I can reliably connect via remmina
with vnc and xrdp with no tweaks at all. However it does pop up with an

confirmed no fix yet for xubuntu 16.04 this is a non starter for the
library as users must be auto logged in or the librarians have to run
around and login every machine

I also have this problem in xubuntu 14.04 the above patch did nothing
for me. I have to remove known_hosts before every rdp windows connection
(not for remote xubuntu) then it asks for a certificate OK every time.
Very irritating as I manage 17 remote computers, but worse is how long
it took to

Printer won't print although Ubuntu says that job is completed, also
driver
Still going on in 12.04. I copy a directory and change the permissions
from root to me and set it as recursive but none of the files in
directory are changed or even can be changed individually even using
sudo. Happens mostly when copying directories from an external drive.

The trouble is I get the freeze before the install 3rd party software
screen I get a freeze on the splash screen and after 3 days of testing
different F6 perameters I see it is a missing firmware issue even though
the laptop currently has the firmware ionstalled and wireless works with
11.10. I
Using 11.10 I did a kernel patch but it still goes black and you need to
close and reopen led to get screen back bright. Very annoying at our
library as we have 10 laptops running Ubuntu.

No I haven't how is that done? And this is a well docvumented problem of
Seagate and Maxtor driuve that powert down to save energy and this
causes an unmount in Linux. Mine both will power down if even a few
seconds pause happens.

I can't get any of 3 ext ntfs hard drives to mount and yes they were
cleanly removed from windows. I have downloaded about every possible
ubuntu utility. So I can never back up and this is driving me crazy!!!
All 3 drives work fine in windows.

Same with my Maxtor and a western digital ext HD. Ubuntu really needs a
patch or a small program for dummies like me to set drive spindowns to
not unmount ext HDs makes backing up near to impossible and I don't
think just not buying these 2 major barnd ext HDs is the answer if
Ubuntu wants to keep
This is a serious issue I have been seeking help in the forums and no
fix. Both my external hard drives randomly unmount in Jaunty.I can never
get a backup to finish. They also unmount if I try to copy and paste my
files to them. Both work fine in winows XP. I have tried every backup
