[Bug 1761008] [NEW] light-locker messes up keyboard bindings after unlock

2018-04-03 Thread datanalytics.com
Public bug reported:

If I lock my screen and then unlock it, keyboard bindings are messed up.
For instance, "p" maps to "*", "ñ" to "-", etc. It seems to affect most
of the right part of the keyboard only.

The correct bindings return either after some random time (+10 minutes)
or if I run

xfsettingsd --replace

[Bug 1568211] Re: no UMS support in radeon module

2016-04-24 Thread datanalytics.com
I am facing the same issue. I have upgraded from Xubuntu 14.04 to
Xubuntu 16.04 and I was greeted with a black screen just after my first
reboot.

I use a Radeon HD 5430 card with two monitors. Incidentally, I had to
switch off one of them so that the Live USB from which I installed the
upgrade would work. The problem, though, started with the reboot.

This is the output of my uname -a:

Linux tiramisu 4.4.0-21-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 18 18:33:37 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

There are three ways in which I can "start" my computer:

* Normal boot, which ends in a black screen.
* Recovery mode, which, after selecting "continue boot", generates errors such
as "*ERROR* no UMS support in radeon module!" above, defaults to VESA module
(and poor resolution), and cannot manage two screens. I enclose the Xorg.1.log
file for this method.
* Recovery method and deleting the nomodesetting kernel option. After selecting
"continue boot", I get a perfectly working environment: radeon module works,
etc. I enclose the Xorg.0.log file for this method.

** Attachment added: "Corresponds to a "clean" boot"

Hello,

Did you manage to find out something more about this bug?

Best regards,

Excerpts from datanalytics.com's message of Sat Jun 18 15:55:02 UTC 2011:
 I got this:

Yes very! This leads me to believe the upstart job is broken:

 Can you paste

 cat /etc/init/nmbd.conf /etc/init/nmbd.override ?

 and

 cat /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba.postinst

 Thanks once again.

[Bug 791944] Re: package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-06-15 Thread datanalytics.com
I tried to manually start nmbd and I got the following:

carlos@kropotkin:samba$ sudo /etc/init.d/nmbd start
[sudo] password for carlos:
Rather than invoking init scripts through /etc/init.d, use the service(8)
utility, e.g. service nmbd start

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the start(8) utility, e.g. start nmbd
start: Job failed to start
carlos@kropotkin:samba$ service nmbd start
start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type=method_call,
sender=:1.53 (uid=1000 pid=5836 comm=start nmbd )

carlos@kropotkin:samba$ start nmbd
start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type=method_call,

Does it help?

[Bug 539247] Re: Annoying messages on .xsession-errors

2010-03-15 Thread datanalytics.com
These are the lines that appeared in the .xsession-error files:

stdin:1:3: error: invalid preprocessing directive #Those
stdin:2:3: error: invalid preprocessing directive #or
stdin:3:3: error: invalid preprocessing directive #Xft
stdin:4:3: error: invalid preprocessing directive #Xft

These warnings, not errors, can be eliminated if the # is replaced by
! for comment lines in the

/etc/xdg/xfce4/Xft.xrdb

file as indicated in the xrdb man page.

[Bug 457565] Re: Error saving preferences

2009-10-29 Thread datanalytics.com
Hello, similar problem here: I can disable certain sensors, close the
configuration window and get just what I want. But when I restart, I
have the full collection of sensors I do now wish to have reports on. It
happens every time I reboot.

I get no error when I close the window, though: no error message
indicating that my preferences could not be saved.

I am using Xubuntu 9.10 on an AMD64 platform.

[Bug 410550] [NEW] Unclean shutdown on karmic

2009-08-07 Thread datanalytics.com
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Every time I try to start my Ubuntu Karmic, I am informed that my latest
shutdown was unclean and a disk check is performed. In fact, the disk
check finds errors in my /boot partition.

But I use System Shut Down to shut down my system.

The error happens every single time, even if I perform a reboot after
a system upgrade.

I am running a frenquently upgraded Ubuntu Karmic on an Acer Aspire
4520G. The problem never happened with previous Ubuntu releases running
on the same system (since 7.10).

[Bug 334594] [NEW] PIL package not available

2009-02-25 Thread datanalytics.com
Public bug reported:

I made a fresh install of plone3-site package. Other packages such as
zope2.10 and a version of python 2.4 were installed alongside.

However, plone failed to start. The reason was that python2.4 lacked the
PIL (python-imaging) package. It was installed under the official
python version, though.

I solved the problem by making a soft link from the python2.4 lib
directory to the PIL directory under python2.6. However, this is just a
trick and it should be part of the automated installation of the
plone3-site package.

[Bug 273693] Re: biarch alsa-lib path problem with Skype

2008-10-06 Thread datanalytics.com
Hello,

Are we trying to find out a workaround that we should try in our
machines individually and at our own risk?

Or are we trying to report a bug so that somebody at Ubuntu will fix
the package for a new update?

I mean, should I try what you are discussing on my computer or just wait
for an update? I am not in a rush, but I just want to know whether the
update is coming or not...

2008-10-03 Thread datanalytics.com
Hello... Well, it comes to the Ubuntu bug list. Then, after review, it
can be submitted upstream to the actual package developers, in this
case, Mozilla. However, you will understand it is faster (and you are
more likely to be heard) if you submit your request directly to Mozilla
itself...

[Bug 275746] [NEW] Failed spamassassin pipe on Evolution (Intrepid)

2008-09-29 Thread datanalytics.com
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I am using Evolution after an upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10. I have activated
the spamfilter (spamassassin).

My incoming mail is being filtered. However, each time a new message is
downloaded, a warning message appears on the lower status bar. If I
click on it, an error window pops up and says that the pipe to
spamassassin failed (and exited with error code 5).

The filter is applied. It works. It is only an annoyance...

Thank you for taking the time to make Ubuntu better. Since what you
submitted is not really a bug, or a problem, but rather an Feature
Request to improve Ubuntu, you are invited to post your idea in Ubuntu
Brainstorm at

https://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/

where it can be discussed, voted by the community and reviewed by

Besides, given that it is a Debian package, you should consider posting
it upstream to

It is more likely that you will be heard there.

Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion!

[Bug 274631] Re: cron doesn't change schedule when system time is changed

2008-09-28 Thread datanalytics.com
Hello,

Have you taken into consideration the comments on cron's man file
concerning hour changes? I copy from my file below:

Special considerations exist when the clock is changed by less than 3
hours, for example at the beginning and end of daylight savings time. If
the time has moved forwards, those jobs which would have run in the time
that was skipped will be run soon after the change. Conversely, if the
time has moved backwards by less than 3 hours, those jobs that fall into
the repeated time will not be re-run.

Only jobs that run at a particular time (not specified as @hourly, nor
with ’*’ in the hour or minute specifier) are affected. Jobs which
are specified with wildcards are run based on the new time immediately.

Clock changes of more than 3 hours are considered to be corrections to
the clock, and the new time is used immediately.

Would it be the case that your test has interferred with this rule? By
how many hours have you changed the clock?

[Bug 274631] Re: cron doesn't change schedule when system time is changed

2008-09-28 Thread datanalytics.com
Could it be a timezones problem? Can you have a look at this
discussion here:

http://www.experts-
exchange.com/OS/Linux/Distributions/Red_Hat/Q_22977697.html

?

It seems that date and cron do not necessarily see the same time...

[Bug 275616] Re: gcalctool drops significant zeros

2008-09-28 Thread datanalytics.com
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 254740 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/254740

I am unable to replicate the error... Although I am using version
5.24.0-0ubuntu1 of gcalctool on Intrepid Ibex...

You could try to report the bug upstream, to

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/browse.cgi?product=gcalctool

You could possibly discuss it with the developers themselves.

[Bug 96434] Re: gnome keyboard indicator Alt left+Alt right shortcut does not work anymore.

2008-02-26 Thread datanalytics.com
I had a similar problem: I could switch from US to ES keyboard, but not
the other way around with Alt+Alt. The reason is that there is no right
Alt key in the Spanish keyboard! Now I use the right control key (that I
never use) for these tasks... which exists on both layouts.
