[Bug 146518] Re: No Greek for Strigi...
Let me express my fear about this problem too. As we are approaching the final release of Gutsy, it would be very unpleasant for us to see an innovative tool coming with Kubuntu Gutsy just not working for our language (Greek)! The problem exists for me as described above for Strigi. Neither the icon in the notification area nor Strigi running from Kmenu works with Greek. As for the icon it returns the results using symbols as described in the first report of this bug. As for Strigi from Kmenu it will never return files or folders with greek names, although there are indexed. Please let us now what we should expect. Let me add too, that there is not any general problem with Greek in Kubuntu, so it seems to be a deficiency in Strigi. Also other similar tools (like Google desktop and Beagle) work well (if it ever has any sense mentioning...). Dolphin has no problem showing Greek names. -- strigi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146518 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 147369] PLEASE PAY ATTENTION
Please pay attention!!! We were all happy yesterday about the fix offered by David (http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9682810/C%3A%5Cdes%5Ctmp%5C55-hpmud.rules) and it worked indeed! BUT! Today after the everyday update of my system, a new hplip was downloaded, which I expected to include the fix. It indeed included a 55-hpmud.rules file, though it had some differences with the one offered here AND IT CAUSES NEW PROBLEMS for me at least. The printer is correctly recognised and installed, but it only works through System/Administration/Printing (I can print test pages), BUT NOWHERE ELSE (for example printing from OpenOffice). The HPLIP tool also DOES NOT recognise the printer after the installation. The difference between the two files (the one given us here and the one taken through the update process) concern different permissions and owners (root instead of lp and 0664 instead of 0666). I tried the old file and it works fine but the new does NOT! [Bug 147369] Re: system-config-printer fails to automatically configure a printer
I uninstalled all printers and removed them from the computer (USB). I rebooted. I connected my HP Deskjet 5940 to the USB. After a few seconds I was given the tip that the printer was found and installed. It had been recognised by both the System/Administration/Printing tool and the HPLIP Toolbox, having the URI that was not working previously (i.e. hp:/usb/Deskjet), BUT It worked flaulessly!... Job is done and it really should have been done. Bug seems to be fixed. I will inform friends of mine who are also beta-testing Gutsy and had the same problem. My only thought now, is why jobs are compiled continuously to the printer... I mean whatever I send for printing takes a job-number ever increasing (for instance I send a test page and it is printed as job... 45), but I cannot find how I reset the counting. If it is something worth considering, let us now please. Thanks for the fix! It was important for the upcoming release of Ubuntu. -- system-config-printer fails to automatically configure a printer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147369 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 148146] HP printer not installed correctly on Gutsy through the new automated tool
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hplip It seems that the new tool for automatic installation of printers is somehow buggy. The printers in some cases are recognised correctly, BUT they are assigned to a bad device URI. In my case for example ( I own a HP Deskjet 5940), the printer was given a URI: hp:/usb/Deskjet_5900_series?serial=CN5771W0FH047H. It would only collect jobs, without my being able to delete any of them, but it would never print! The solution was to use the printer settings (either on Ubuntu Gutsy: System -- Administration -- Printing or on Kubuntu Gutsy: Peripherals -- Printers) and make the system search again for printers on usb ports. Then the printer was given automatically the correct URI: usb://HP/Deskjet%205900%20series?serial=CN5771W0FH047H and it started working. It seems that it has something to do with the hplip package, since it affects only HP printers (as far as I can know) on Gutsy. ** Affects: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- HP printer not installed correctly on Gutsy through the new automated tool https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/148146 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, after your last comment, I only change the theme of Ubuntu with a custom I used before (only icon theme) and indeed the issue with the program has vanished and the drag-n-drop works again. I would not have imagined that such a change could have such consequences. It had never occurred to me in the past. After the change of the theme, it now works again with all themes, including the default of Ubuntu! [Bug 147751] Re: [Gutsy] Drag-n-drop function does not work for moving/ copying messages between folders
Let me report that I found another issue I had not regarded so much as I should... I use Evolution through Alltray (so as to dock the program at the notification area instead of minimizing to the window list). Whenever I run Evolution through it, the problem exists, when I run Evolution clearly, there is no problem. The theme has nothing to do with it. Simply I quited the program when I changed the theme and ran it again without Alltray... It turns out that it was a matter of Alltray, though it still looks strange to me. -- [Gutsy] Drag-n-drop function does not work for moving/ copying messages between folders https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
