[Bug 1135288] [NEW] Upgrade deleted my /opt symlink
Public bug reported: I believe one of the Adobe upgrade packages caused my /opt directory to be unlinked. Usually I symlink this directory to a path on another partition /opt = /home/opt, something I've done since Ubuntu 8 series. After doing an upgrade today that link was lost and in its place was a new /opt with contents /opt/Adobe/Reader9. So I assume it is acroread which broke it. I'm using Kubuntu 12.04 with the Muon update manager, but I suspect it isn't related to those components. I've attached a screenshot showing the other packages updated at the same time. [Bug 674386] [NEW] audio playback device HDA Intel (HDA Generic) does not work (lenovo T410i)
Public bug reported: On KDE startup I get the notice audio playback device HDA Intel (HDA Generic) does not work. Indeed sound doesn't work. If I go to System Settings | Multimedia and test the HDA Intel (HDA Generic) device it works fine -- and then sounds work again until I reboot. I assumed at first this came from upgrading the kernel from 2.6.32-24 to -25, but booting back into the old kernel shows the audio is also broken there now. Something else in the upgrade perhaps broke this: my original install of Kubuntu worked fine, that's what I'd like to stress. [Bug 673657] [NEW] kernel 2.6.32-25 audio failure / glib warning Lenovo T410i
Public bug reported: kernel 2.6.32-24 worked fine on the Lenovo T410i laptop. Upgrading to 25 introduced this two problems: 1. audio no longer works, Phonon reports at KDE startup that HDA Intel (HDA Generic) does not work 2. boot shows the Glib-Warning: getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user (a common problem it appears) 2a. with the splash option the boot process hangs 2b. without the splash option the boot continues (still with problem #1) To repeat, sound worked failure free previously and I can only think the kernel upgrade caused the problem. I am unable to test the old kernel again. Selecting it form the grub menu leaves me in an initramfs boot, somehow the old kernel has been lost, or is broken during the upgrade. [Bug 197057] Re: cannot boot 2.6.22-14 with Athlon 64, hangs/stops
I tried Alpha 6 and the 64-bit live CD boots, well, not quite. If I accept the default options the screen goes blank and the booting process stops (I waited just to be sure, and it really has stopped, no activity, no progress). If I modify the boot options to remove the splash and quiet options the live CD boots into Gnome without a problem. I should note that if I boot with the Splash screen with the Mepis kernel it boots correctly, but the X display has a few odd artefacts -- which I suspect is either a bug in the radeon driver, or in the card itself (simply switching to a console and switching back fixes it). I mention this since perhaps it is related to the splash crashing the boot process in this new Ubuntu CD. -- cannot boot 2.6.22-14 with Athlon 64, hangs/stops https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197057 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
