[Bug 2064177] Re: Window borders and shadows missing from GTK3 dialogs (if autologin is enabled and Xorg is used)
I wonder if the lack of borders does not cause the click problem. Probably the click is calculated within the border and while there are no borders, there is a problem so the click goes to the lower window/object. There is quite a while without a solution, it is quite annoying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2064177 Title: Window borders and shadows missing from GTK3 dialogs (if autologin is enabled and Xorg is used) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/2064177/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2064177] [NEW] No windows margins, problems with detecting windows on clicks
Public bug reported: I have a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 instalation and some of the windows have a few problems. Some are probably caused by theming, as the windows' borders (or their color) makes them impossible to discern from the background windows. Just earlier I discovered another bug, related to detecting the click and window I clicked. I am trying to see the sub-content of a software update but the system reacts as I clicked the window below. In the recording you can see this happening both with the Terminal and with Firefox. I have plenty of screenshots and also a screen recording that show the bugs. [Bug 1949411] [NEW] GJS using lots of CPU resources non stop
Public bug reported: In my laptop, gjs is using lots of CPU resources (about 13% in my case) and I cannot stop it. Keeping the mouse over it, it seems to be related to the Desktop extension. I also attached a screeshot showing that. I tried Alt+F2 & r, nothing changes in this regard; I tried disabling the extension and Alt+F2 & r, nothing changes. Restart works. When this happens, the mouse cannot interact with the desktop icons. For instance, when I moved one file, it was still shown on the Desktop, although I have already moved it with Nautilus/Files. I have a theory: I use the desktop to temporary store files, also my screen recording software creates the files on the Desktop. One time, when I moved in Nautilus the file from the Desktop to my working folders, this bug was triggered. Maybe it was a coincidence, but it sure looked like that. My idea is that the extension does not properly work with other programs interacting with the desktop and it somehow crashes instead or re-scanning the files over there and paint them correctly. [Bug 1925750] Re: Ubuntu 21.04 not loading correctly intel graphics driver
Used to be Intel by default (not nvidia by default) until Ubuntu 21.04. This time it changed and I did not know how to revert to intel drivers. I uninstalled nvidia drivers, after restart it switched to nouveau (still nvidia) and then I blacklisted the nouveau driver in the grub. Probably there was some way to blacklist proprietary nvidia drivers, too, but I got to that solution later :D Proprietary nvidia drivers have this thing called Optimus where, if the management app is installed, you can switch between nvidia and intel graphics (unfortunately one has also to log out-log in, in Windows it works without that), I did select Intel graphics but it does not use the open source drivers from the kernel (or at least they work differently, because I got the graphical glitches for Gnome Extensions window). I installed mate-optimus to have access to the nvidia settings and be able to change graphics from there, that one seems to be working, but Wayland still does not show up in the log in screen, maybe because it detected the kind of driver and sees it is the nvidia one? [Bug 1901137] Re: UEFI on Legacy - grub-install fails due to no space left on ESP
I just tried the workaround tested by @Matt, to add the toram option on booting the USB drive, but in my case, it did not work. Maybe "toram" did not work, don't know how to test thst, but in my installation of 20.10 Ubuntu, I got the same grub intall failure. If it matters, I did not remove the usb thumb drive. I will attach the messages during the failure, in my case it seems to try installing EUFI, but my Bios is in legacy mode. ** Attachment added: "20201105_010708.jpg" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1901137/+attachment/5431265/+files/20201105_010708.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1901137 Title: UEFI on Legacy - grub-install fails due to no space left on ESP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1901137/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1901137] Re: UEFI on Legacy - grub-install fails due to no space left on ESP
I have 3 OS's (Windows and last 2 Ubuntu's) on my first laptop hard drive (SDD). Every 6 months (for the last few years) I had these actions: keep Windows 10 that came with the laptop, keep the previous Ubuntu and install the latest formatting the partition with the ones 2 launches away. This time it did not work, for the first time, so it is something only related to 20.04 version. (my BIOS is in legacy mode) It says that fix is commited, does it mean it will go into the Ubuntu .iso so we can install it? I have updates, after some more use. For some reason, I can now connect to the 5GHz network, don't know why, didn't do anything myself. I have updated to Ubuntu 20.04, but both 19.04 and the latest release work the same. The problem is that I cannot connect to the 2.4 GHz now. [Bug 1875038] Re: Lock screen not really functioning - Gnome Shell extensions visible and active even in lock screen
I have had this discussion with Gnome Shell developers when I first saw the bug, some versions behind, they see it as a feature, not as a bug. It is like fighting the wind over there. In the real world, where people expect computers and OS's to do what they say they do, a lock screen is supposed to lock access. Whatever else is running behind, access should be restricted, otherwise, it is worthless as a secure OS and lock screen. I know this should be on Gnome Shell developers, but as Ubuntu joined the boat using it, it becomes a problem for Ubuntu, too. I am tired of posting bugs on Gnome bugzilla because it is difficult, close to impossible to fight them (a lost fight was there to add back file sorting by extension in search, for instance). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875038 Title: Lock screen not really functioning - Gnome Shell extensions visible and active even in lock screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1875038/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: This is a very old bug, I have reported it some time ago and was replied that maybe I did something, but as I could see it active some versions later, I wanted to get back. [Bug 1851964] [NEW] Volume indicator lags behind scroll action to change volume
Public bug reported: Changing the volume with the help of the mouse/touchpad, scrolling on top of the sound icon used to work fine in the older versions of gnome shell. In Ubuntu 19.10, it does not. [Bug 1560286] Re: Evince displays pdf file fine, but prints colors inverted
I add a pdf I get this in Ubuntu 18.10. Printing page 7 (and on), images look inverted. Only images, text is good. I printed as PDF and they turn dark (inverted I guess). Then I printed as Postscript (.ps) and they look fine, so a workaround would be to print files as postscript and then print them on the paper, but it is not a real solution. ** Attachment added: "from page 7 images are printed inverted in this pdf" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1560286/+attachment/5217755/+files/Aubert_Brumm_etal_2014_Sulawesi_Indonezia-pag-7+.pdf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1560286 Title: Evince displays pdf file fine, but prints colors inverted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1560286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1799542] Re: Cannot drag and drop into Snap installed GIMP
It works, thank you. But.. But the thing is that on Android, the other place where most of us need to set permissions for an app, we get the OS popping some window and saying that the app needs some permission to work properly. This can be asked at the moment when the app tries to access some resource it cannot access. The firewalls I used do the same, they detect some software connecting to some port and they ask the user what to do: allow or do not allow (remember answer, ignore, etc.). This would be nice to have in Ubuntu, too. Meanwhile, thank you. PS: Not knowing this, I had to install the GIMP PPA for having the latest version, so I have 2 versions now, the one from PPA and the one from Snapstore. Is there some way to know which is which when starting them? [Bug 1767494] Re: Some Gnome Shell extensions are visible and active in Lock Screen
A have reported it to Gnome and also to the developer. It is nice to know that there seems to be no safety involving extensions so they could disable locking the screen or maybe auto-unlocking it. Just like Android would allow users to install external .apk files without even making you manually accept it is an external and not validated app. :)) I got it, this is not about Ubuntu, but I wanted Ubuntu to know how this behaves. The developer said it might be an incompatibility with Ubuntu Dock, which could be as UD does not start after activating the other one. Imho, Gnome should cover everything on screen with this unlock screen and not allow anything else but the desired actions to be active (log in, turn off maybe, time, some info). Anything else is not really good design. But this is maybe just in my mind :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767494 Title: Some Gnome Shell extensions are visible and active in Lock Screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-dashtodock/+bug/1767494/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1767494] [NEW] Some Gnome Shell extensions are visible and active in Lock Screen
Public bug reported: This is a bad Gnome Shell security flaw. When the screen is locked, nothing should be available. But I see the Dash do Dock extension and I can even start applications from it. [Bug 1672297] Re: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time
It might be more complicated to fix as there are lots and lots of actions that get to memory leaks. There are some crashes, too. Bad programming, probably, and it might need some fundamental changes in the code and architecture. They are creating lists and objects that are larger and larger on each trigger, without killing any when they are not needed or having a limit to recycle resources. And if they got to this, it might be complicated to find solutions with the same team that created it. I kind of doubt we'll see a solution before the next release. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672297 Title: gnome-shell uses lots of memory, and grows over time To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1672297/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
