[Bug 124856] Re: DiskFilesystems module does not load after plugging in iPod

2007-10-15 Thread fluffman86
Sorry that took so long. Some update from feisty to gutsy made me lose
the ability to login to KDM. I could get to TTY, so I backed everything
up and reinstalled. Now I'm having no problems. Anyway, the problem
still exists in the Gutsy Release Candidate. Here's the output that
Luka requested.

[code]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kcmshell mountconfig

I'll be away from my Kubuntu computer for the rest of today and most of
tomorrow. I'll test this out around 2100 Zulu (5pm Eastern Daylight Time)
tomorrow (10 OCT 07).

Thanks!

Can you start Disk Filesystems from command line when iPod is connected?
Just open Konsole and run the following command kcmshell mountconfig?
Can you provide output of mount when iPod is connected?

[Bug 124856] DiskFilesystems module does not load after plugging in iPod

2007-07-09 Thread fluffman86
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-guidance

This bug is similar to 109273 kde systemsettings module Disk
Filesystems does not load in that I get the same error. There are a
few differences, though:

On this computer, I am running Kubuntu Feisty 7.04 with a 2.6.20-16
kernel. This computer has 1 internal HDD (160GB), 2 optical drives, an
AMD 64 Athlon processor, and an nVidia 6200GT OC video card. When I
open Disk Filesystems under System Settings on the KMenu, everything
displays properly - including the 3 partitions (FAT 32 for Windows
restore, NTFS for Windows, and ext3 for Kubuntu) and the Swap. I can
add DVD's, CD's, my FAT32 thumbdrive, or my External NTFS 160GB HDD with
no problems. Everything will pop up and ask what I want to do with it,
and if I go to Disk Filesystems I can make changes to the disks --
like changing the mount point, etc.

The BANE of my Linux existence, however, is my 80GB video iPod. When I
plug this in, everything pops up like normal, and I get a fancy little
icon on the desktop. BUT, if I want to change the mount point using
Disk Filesystems, I get the Module does not load error, telling me
that something went wrong during an upgrade without giving me any
warnings or anything.

This happens EVERY time I plug in my ipod, and it has taken me a couple
of weeks and 3 re-installs of Kubuntu to figure out why this is
happening.

So, to recap:
1. Plug in iPod
2. Open new window or Do nothing - both work and both add the iPod icon to the
desktop.
3. Attempt to access Disk Filesystem via System Settings on the K Menu
4. Receive error messages saying that there are no messages, but still
attempting to guess at what you did wrong.
5. click administrator mode and notice that nothing changes.
5. pull out what little hair is left
6. right-click iPod icon on desktop, then click safely remove
7. re-access disk filesystems with now problems.

I can live without this functionality, of course. Thanks for looking
into this!
