[Bug 1504237] Re: Serial port ttyS0 not working after automatic kernel upgrade

Also working with the enablement stack.
I installed 14.04 from newer media on an identical machine and no problems
found with kernel 3.19.0-32

[Bug 1511011] Re: This errors repeats frequently since upgrading to 15.10

2015-11-09 Thread fmaste
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1453298 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453298

It appears to be related to this bug
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88012

I have many Intel BayTrail systems and all of them get completely freeze
with every kernel I tried after 3.13. So 14.04 without enablement stack
works perfectly but all of the above versions are having many problems,
I tried with 15.10 also.

** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #88012
   https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88012

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1453298
   Xubuntu freeze once a day

[Bug 1511011] [NEW] This errors repeats frequently since upgrading to 15.10

2015-10-28 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

I use the machine to host a Windows VM with libvirt and qemu/KVM and it freezes
completely more than twice a day, no log, no ssh, no terminal. Only this error
appears on the log when doing nothing, I just leave it idle to see what
happened.
Same machines, config and Windows guest running on 14.04 are having no
problems, but 15.04 and 15.10 are very unstable, I'm downgrading.

[Bug 1504237] [NEW] Serial port ttyS0 not working after automatic kernel upgrade

2015-10-08 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

After automatic upgrades on four machines the serial port stopped working
I did "apt-get purge linux-image-3.13.0-65-generic" and the serial port is
functional again

All of them were working OK on:
Linux version 3.13.0-63-generic (buildd@lgw01-18) (gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu
4.8.2-19ubuntu1) ) #103-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 14 21:42:59 UTC 2015 (Ubuntu
3.13.0-63.103-generic 3.13.11-ckt25)

And failed after the automatic install of:
Linux version 3.13.0-65-generic (buildd@lgw01-55) (gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu
4.8.2-19ubuntu1) ) #105-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 21 18:50:58 UTC 2015 (Ubuntu
3.13.0-65.105-generic 3.13.11-ckt26)

The ports are used by a KVM VM via TCP using socat and on two different
motherboards/CPUs

[Bug 1362175] [NEW] Screen won't resume after blank on new 14.04.01 server

2014-08-27 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

After a fresh Ubuntu Server 14.04.01 install (it was the same with 14.04.00)
the display will enter into power save mode and I can't make it turn back on.
This is with tty1, no UI installed, it's a fresh server installation.
Nothing happens when trying to switch to another tty with CTRL+ALT+[1-6] but I
now the machine is running because I blindly write sudo shutdown -r now when
this happens and the machine is restarted normally.
After updating the system, the BIOS and trying with another monitor my
workaround was to write setterm -blank 0 so the screen will stay always on.
With setterm -powerdown 0 and setterm -powersave off I still experience the
wrong behaviour.

Thanks!

[Bug 162066] Upper panel becomes black when display turns on after sleep

2007-11-11 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

My display goes to sleep when inactive for 5 minutes and when it turns back on
again the upper panel is all black.
I'm using Gutsy with the extra visual effects.

I don't know if it is a gnome-panel bug or compiz.

I took two screenshots to see the problem

[Bug 149665] Re: when returning from suspend my laptop tries to hibernate

2007-10-23 Thread fmaste
Same happens to me on a fresh Gutsy install on a Dell Inspiron 9400 / E1705.
Also when back from hibernation no password is required!!

The next time I tried to reproduce the error suspend failed and when back it
tries to suspend/hibernate but also failed.
Below I attach the result of sudo lspci -vvnn and my kern.log and acpid.log

[Bug 149665] Re: when returning from suspend my laptop tries to hibernate

2007-10-23 Thread fmaste
After I restarted I managed to reproduce the bug.
On AC power and automatic sleep enabled it suspends correctly, but when it
returns from suspend my laptop hibernates, it also hibernates OK, but when back
it is not asking for the login password.

Below is the kern.log and acpid log, hope it helps.

[Bug 152399] Gutsy RC Install Error

2007-10-13 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

When installing Gutsy RC on my laptop (DELL Inspiron 9400) from the Live
CD and the 88% of the installation was done, I got an error saying this:

Migration-assistant needs to mount a partition, but cannot do so because the
following mount point could not be unmounted:
/mnt/migrationassistant
Please close any applications using these mount points.
Would you like migration-assistant to try to unmount these partitions again?

And I have two choices:
Button 1: Go back, Button 2: Continue.

First, I did not select any type of migration and I tried installing twice to
make sure it was not my fault.
Second, If I chose Go back Installation freezes at 88%, but when choosing
Continue installation finishes normally.
Last, The choices given did not correspond to the question ask, the question
should be removed or the buttons changed to Yes, No.

I installed Edgy and Feisty in the same way without any problem, This
should be changed soon, because many people may not install Ubuntu
because of the freezing or because they don understand whats happening.

[Bug 152408] No sources after Gutsy RC install

2007-10-13 Thread fmaste
Public bug reported:

When installing at the 82% (Scanning the security updates repository),
without internet connection (I believe this is the problem), I Got this
error:

The security updates on security.ubuntu.com couldn't be accessed, so these
updates will not be made available to you at this time. You should investigate
this later.
Commented out entries for security.ubuntu.com have been added to the
/etc/apt/sources.list file.

I pressed OK and continue installing. When finished I restarted my computer and
go to the restricted drivers manager to install the nvidia driver but got this
error:
The software source for the package nvidia-glx-new is not enabled.
I tried updating my system, but there were no updates, I checked my
sources.list and all the sources were commented!!

This should be corrected very soon, because Ubuntu without any sources is
nothing!, no drivers, no updates, I even cannot install any new program!!
This is also a security problem, because there are no security updates, there
should be enabled by default and not telling You should investigate!!
If the problem is that I made the installation without an internet connection
is a big mistake because many people installs without internet!

Below is the attachment of my sources.list file.

The software source for the package nvidia-glx-new is not enabled.
I tried updating my system, but there were no updates, I checked my
sources.list and all the sources were commented!!

** Description changed:

When installing at the 82% (Scanning the security updates repository),
without internet connection (I believe this is the problem), I Got this
  error:

The security updates on security.ubuntu.com couldn't be accessed, so these
updates will not be made available to you at this time. You should investigate
this later.
Commented out entries for security.ubuntu.com have been added to the
/etc/apt/sources.list file.

I pressed OK and continue installing. When finished I restarted my computer
and go to the restricted drivers manager to install the nvidia driver but got

[Bug 152408] Re: No sources after Gutsy RC install

2007-10-13 Thread fmaste
I reinstalled with an internet connection available and there were no
problems!

An internet connection is not a must have for installing, imagine people
that needs ndiswrapper, or that your connection is down, or having DNS
problems, also people that needs a complex configuration, or that they
don't have internet at all, etc!

Not everyone may notice that they sources are commented, they may be not
even know what I am talking about

I also see this behavior since early tribe releases, but thought it will be
fixed on later versions.
Now It is happening in the beta release too, is very ugly.
