[Bug 1861595] Re: Laptop does not resume after suspend. OK plugged-in, fails with battery

2020-05-26 Thread forevertheuni
Same happens on Ubuntu 20.04.

I really can't find a way to fix this.

Should I try with another nvme disk?
That should tell me if it's the lenovo or the sabrent. Any ideas of things to
try?

** Description changed:

  This replicated in 18.10, 19.04 and 19.10.

If I suspend the laptop by turning the lid of, or by

  #echo mem > /sys/power/state

  The nvme disk I have:

[Bug 1861595] Re: Laptop does not resume after suspend. OK plugged-in, fails with battery

2020-02-07 Thread forevertheuni
Well.

I tested 2 or 3 times and with 5.5 it was a super fast resume from suspension.
After a later test the same problem came. (I'm again updating the dmesg - This
dmesg was generated after connecting to power once again, when I connect to the
power plug everything resumes fine).

I also had to switch from the nvidia graphics to the intel because the dkms
didn't work for 5.5.
I will also test the 5.0 with the intel card, just to absolutely rule out
nvidia problems.

To note again, only have these problems when resuming with battery
unplugged.

[Bug 1797772] Re: ideapad_laptop disables WiFi/BT radios on Lenovo Y530

2019-07-19 Thread forevertheuni
By the way. I went to linux kernel 5.2.1 ideapad_laptop.c and now
there's no no_hw_rfkill_list. It's the opposite, now it has to be
specified if there is a hw-rfkill. So that new laptops don't get this
problem.

One option is to install a ppa with a recent kernel.

>From the file:
* Some ideapads have a hardware rfkill switch, but most do not have one.
 * Reading VPCCMD_R_RF always results in 0 on models without a hardware rfkill,
 * switch causing ideapad_laptop to wrongly report all radios as hw-blocked.
 * There used to be a long list of DMI ids for models without a hw rfkill
 * switch here, but that resulted in playing whack a mole.
 * More importantly wrongly reporting the wifi radio as hw-blocked, results in
 * non working wifi. Whereas not reporting it hw-blocked, when it actually is
 * hw-blocked results in an empty SSID list, which is a much more benign
 * failure mode.
 * So the default now is the much safer option of assuming there is no
 * hardware rfkill switch. This default also actually matches most hardware,
 * since having a hw rfkill switch is quite rare on modern hardware, so this
 * also leads to a much shorter list.
 */

[Bug 1837136] Re: ideapad_laptop disables WiFi/BT radios on Lenovo Y540

2019-07-18 Thread forevertheuni
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I have a brand new LeNovo legion Y540 and the ideapad_laptop module
  results in a rfkill.

If the module is removed/blacklisted, then wifi works, but some ACPI
functionality is lost (the fans don't spin correctly and the laptop
  doesn't cool properly).

I will try to compile ideapad_laptop adding the laptop info to
  no_hw_rfkill_list[].

I only tried in ubuntu 19.10 (although this is a kernel issue)

  rfkill output:
  sudo rfkill
  ID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD
   2 bluetooth hci0blocked unblocked
   3 wlan phy0 unblocked unblocked
   4 wlan ideapad_wlan unblocked blocked
   5 bluetooth ideapad_bluetooth blocked blocked

[Bug 1797772] Re: ideapad_laptop disables WiFi/BT radios on Lenovo Y530

2019-07-18 Thread forevertheuni
I solved it in my Y540 by compiling a new ideapad_laptop with dkms
adding "legion Y54015IRH" to the no_hw_rfkill_list.

This post and bug 1811815 helped me quite a bit, so, thank you.

[Bug 1837136] [NEW] ideapad_laptop disables WiFi/BT radios on Lenovo Y540

2019-07-18 Thread forevertheuni
Public bug reported:

I have a brand new LeNovo legion Y540 and the ideapad_laptop module
results in a rfkill.

If the module is removed/blacklisted, then wifi works, but some ACPI
functionality is lost (the fans don't spin correctly and the laptop
doesn't cool properly).

I will try to compile ideapad_laptop adding the laptop info to
no_hw_rfkill_list[].

I only tried in ubuntu 19.10 (although this is a kernel issue)

rfkill output:
sudo rfkill
ID TYPE DEVICE SOFT HARD
 2 bluetooth hci0blocked unblocked
 3 wlan phy0 unblocked unblocked
 4 wlan ideapad_wlan unblocked blocked
 5 bluetooth ideapad_bluetooth blocked blocked

1) Ubuntu 5.0.0-20.21-generic 5.0.8

[Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.

2019-01-03 Thread forevertheuni
I'm in 18.10

Adding my volume to the resume file with RESUME=/dev/mapper/ubuntu-swap doesn't
work.
Something to add to my story, /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume did not exist
until I created it after reading this.

Also,
I had started using /var/swap/swap.img file for swap, could that have anything
to do with it?

My booting time is far greater than 30seconds. It just takes about 3 to 4
minutes if not more.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Bug 1768230] Re: Long time booting : Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to device scanning.

2018-12-11 Thread forevertheuni
I upgraded to ubuntu 18.10 last night, and I had this problem all over
again.

Grub with noresume doesn't work
RESUME=none doesn't work
RESUME=/dev/mapper/ubuntu-root doesn't work
RESUME=/dev/mapper/ubuntu-swap doesn't work

changing /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume to none or to any lvm volume
doesn't work.

I always have the lvmetad can't connect, and then the kernel tries to find DHCP
leases (now I actually have messages about it unlike 18.04).
After a lonnng while it ends up booting.

Is there any way I can do a grub boot to stop trying to boot from the
network?

[Bug 1726873] Re: mount.ecryptfs_private can't mount in 17.10

2017-12-26 Thread forevertheuni
Anyway of doing this automatically? as in, start ecryptfs-manager exit and
mount?
Or maybe we can make something like run, sleep 1s, killall -TERM,
mount.ecryptfs_private "mountname"?

It is very annoying to every time I login I have to open a terminal an type
everything.

[Bug 1726873] Re: mount.ecryptfs_private can't mount in 17.10

2017-11-10 Thread forevertheuni
I have the exact same problem. I keep trying and later on (without doing
anything different it just mounts). I checked my .bash_history did all the same
steps. No success until randomly it works. It is such an annoying bug. I had
this Dir for 3 years always working, suddenly @17.10 it doesn't.
I noticed that if I use my passphrase the ID is different from what it needs,
however it I add the unwrapped password the id matches.
But still I have that error

[Bug 1718658] Re: ecryptfs-mount-private fails to initialize ecryptfs keys

2017-11-10 Thread forevertheuni
Exact same problem here. I am using a custom ecryptfs folder (always
worked for 3 years). Only way to mount it was by running ecryptfs-
manager first.

[Bug 455709] Re: "mounting eCryptfs: [-2] No such file or directory" mount.ecryptfs default behavior is inconsistent with ecryptfs-mount-private, ecryptfs-migrate-home, etc.

2017-11-09 Thread forevertheuni
I am having the same problem, and then suddenly after a gazillian tries,
it works. It's not about the keys or encrpytion. The problem is that the
"mount" command is trying to mount to an existing directory, but it
fails saying "no such file or directory".

mount(2) system call failed: No such file or directory.

Btw, my ecryptfs_sig= is always forced to something I don't give.
example
I add the option -o ecryptfs_sig=blablablalba it always outputs
ecryptfs_sig=27471f2ec87cf83f in my case. The fnek sig "listens" to my input or
options.

Same with:
/sbin/mount.ecryptfs_private extramount: No such file or directory

This has been working for 3 years btw, I updated to 17.10 and this started
happening.
All of a sudden after many tries, it mounts correctly.

[Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and nvidia logo

2011-10-21 Thread forevertheuni
hi. Check all the files in /etc/ld.so.conf.d and /etc/X11/Xsession.d . It you
added a line that ruins everything..I think that this is the place to look for.
Either that or make a vbox with ubuntu with a fresh install and replace these
two directories with original ones ;).
Good luck

2011-10-14 Thread forevertheuni
I don't really thing the problem is nvidia related. If I remove nvidia 3rd
party drivers and go with nv driver the same thing happens.
no gdm no lightdm , gdm is ok and startx is ok. It's like if when I do startx I
don't have .xstartup fileI purged lightdm and gdm and installed
again..still same problem.

[Bug 860050] Re: LightDM comes back to greeter after login in and nvidia logo

2011-10-14 Thread forevertheuni
Can someone close this. I've found it. It was related to /etc/ld.so.conf
I had a usr/bin/env LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32/nvidia-current/ in
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/90preserve_ld_library_path and that was the problem
I removed the line I had added in the past and now it works.
