Let me describe my home network: 1) Static IP 2) Restricted Protected with WPA2 key Now comes my problems. 1) i set all the settings in System AdministrationNetwork. i used the following settings - IP:192.168.1.1 + IP:192.168.1.4 subnet: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway:192.168.1.1 Network key type: WPA2 network key: duh! should i mention this :p After giving all the settings,i close the network windows, strangely still it does not connect :S. so i to check if I correctly entered the settings. I open Systemadminstationnetwork again, and found that, Network key Type: WPA(i remember i had set it to WPA2 ) Network Key: the length is increased(don't know if the key got changed , as i can't see it :D) now after this irritating correction I am able to connect. :) 2) Same exercise i explained above it to be done upon every reboot , so its very irritatingwastes my precious time :( Thanks For taking pain of reading this poorly written bug report( I know i suck as writing bug reports) Regards Gaurish -- Wireless Connection does not connect automactically in notebook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183730 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

First I tried like crazy to get an extended desktop going on an external monitor, and finally gave up. Just now I tried to get some applications going in Wine, but received the following error: libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x46 Of course Google Earth doesn't work, or anything else that requires 3D. We should be aware that this is not really an Ubuntu problem, but a VIA problem. As I understand it, VIA doesn't release fully functional drivers for Linux, nor apparently do they release the necessary information for others to do so. Perhaps they would respond with enough pressure from users, but I don't know. Perhaps something could move forward at Openchrome? If anybody knows of any progress on this, or has gotten any response from someone who might help, would you post here? However, under 16 bit resolution, it did look better. -- computer freezes with some applications using 3D https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43154 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Regards, Gaurish Sharma -- computer freezes with some applications using 3D https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43154 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After some Googling and searching on Launchpad, it seems that the VIA K8M800 chipset doesn't want to play nice with the provided VIA video driver. This is more than likely caused by VIA's reluctance to provide specs of the chipset to open source developers. In that regard, there is really nothing anyone can do about it. However, it does seem you aren't the only one with these problems. Bugs #57062 and #43154 also document problems with this VIA chipset. There is also an upstream bug filed on freedesktop.org. Sorry you had such rotten luck, hopefully a fix will be resolved soon. -- Computer locks up https://launchpad.net/bugs/62093 _ Thousands of jobs, millions of opportunities.
